Hi!
First post on this forum.
We'll be visiting Australia first half of 2014 and will be in Melbourne in March. So, I'm thinking that we can come along too. We'll be riding a 1985 FJ1100 which I have aquired for our visit.
Any idea if there are rooms left?

Excellent!!!!!..... you are most welcome to attend....... Kanuks, Poms, Yanks..... come on you Kiwis, we need more Anzac spirit!
Last I heard a couple of weeks ago there were still rooms available. (General - true or false?)

:hi: Welcome David & Caroline (Shame you missed the recent Ashes test matches), but  :yahoo: really glad you will be joining us. You wouldn`t happen to have also recently picked up an XJR/GEM outfit in the UK by any chance? If not, then I can say that maybe another of your countrymen will also be attending.
Have you had the 85 fj carefully looked over?....Let us know if we can help at all with your stay....and yes there are rooms available!

Harvy you are right! I`m not sure why the ANZACS treaty can`t be consummated over an FJ! ....A flight across the ditch is cheap and we`ve offered to find a bike for him or her, Gratis!.... Okay Okay!...I`ll throw in a sheepskin seat cover, publicly sing their National Anthem and produce two tickets ta watch the All Blacks!  :drinks:
...Oh, and entertainment from our choir!..

Hi!
Sent a message to the hotel so fingers crossed.
We were meant to be in Oz in October and see the Adelaide "test" (wasn't much of one for your team!) and the Philip Island Moto GP but things got changed - thankfully. We'll just have to put up with the Melbourne F1 instead :)
Not me with the outfit. I run a 2008 FJR at home.
The guy with the FJ currently has had it inspected but it needed a rear tyre which has just been done for the re-inspection on 6 Jan. i picked it up through the FarRiders site - I joined by doing an Ironbutt run in Oz when I was there in 2010 on a rented bike. I'm getting it thoroughly serviced when I get there at a friends by his mate who's a bike mechanic. I've ordered what spares I could find in Oz and am bringing a few with me from the FJ/FJR owners club here. We're planning to do 20,000km ish over the time we're there so a good going over will be worth it.
We're in TAS for two weeks and get to MEL on 3/4 March so we'll ride out to Jindabyne on the Friday.
Just need to pack thus week!

:good2: Fantastic! You guys sound pretty organised. No doubt you have explored our culture under "Downunder Topics" but should you require Anniversary Shirts the info is the same as 2013 only "2014 Anniversary Rally" extra embroidery on RH sleeve: http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=7952.15 (I`ve been a bit slack and will compile some orders next week for those that have sent me all their size details.)
Also I got some extra news & pics when I ducked in at Jindabyne`s Banjo Patterson resort recently; (Narratives 3 & 4 ) : http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=10617.0

Any pics of your FJ?....we like pics!  Are you sure the FJ is not an 84 Anniversary model? Will you have cameras mounted? (Our resident Spielberg can`t attend unfortunately.)  :drinks:

And this is my FJR:

No reply from the hotel yet but....

CanDman - I've just got back from Xmas in Toronto and St Catharines, visiting my two sons who live in Whitby. I managed to dodge round the ice storm and didn't have a power outage - just lots of walking as the streetcars weren't working. We were staying at the end of Bathurst near the city airport.

My FJR went into storage before I went to Canada so I'm having bike withdrawal symptoms at the moment.

CanDman

Awesome David...although you picked a bad time to come here....... :mocking:..it's too bad that we didn't know each other sooner....we could have at least hooked up for a pint somewhere other than my place....lol. I will look forward to getting together at the Rally....wow we sure are making this planet look rather small and accessible. I will one day cross the pond and visit the home of my Gaelic roots.....hopefully no electricity issues when I do. It's funny....but I bought my FJ five years ago from a guy living in Whitby who was of English decent. He sold it and bought an FJR.....I believe his name was David.....wouldn't that be a hoot if it turned out that it was you.......Did you live in Whitby and move back to England within the past five years?

Caroline lived in Australia for four years so she's pretty well up on Aussie culture!

Shirts - yes, for me certainly. XL or XXL depending usually. Medium in America :)

Will have a Drift camera mounted by then.

Leaving wet, cold UK on Monday  :yahoo:

Not me! When I lived in Canada it was in Calgary 1996-99. My two sons live with their mother in Whitby now - long story!

Well Hi David. Funny how things happen. You may not remember me but I did share a cabin with you at Mitchell and rode south with you to St George. I remember the GS you where on and the tape on the wind-shield. Anyway if I can help with anything just let me know.
