I'd like some opinions on weather I should use the lower cowling? If I do I would make up a CF version. Anybody interested in getting one too?

Took my freshly Historic registered FJ1100 for it first run (20klm) today after a 15 year layup. I was pleasantly surprised as the engine felt fresh and strong. Gearbox shifted flawlessly. The only minus is a slight tendency to be slow to return to idle or revs to drop between down changes sometimes. Could be a blocked low speed jet in one of the carbs, no biggie. Everything is working as it should.

If you were able to do a lower cowling and the front fender, both the forward and aft sections out of Carbon Fiber, I am sure you would be able to move a few.

Possibly contact Randy at RPM and be the Carbon Fiber front fender and lower cowling supplier.

On the stock 3.5" wheel?  You enjoy living dangerously, huh?

That tire will be badly pinched with the profile nothing like the designer/engineers intended.  And, its not even a 'sticky' tire but one intended to give long milage.
At least it will wear out faster (if you do long highway miles) in the skinny center bit.

And your experience with a 170 on that rim? Does the mods I'm doing look like touring mods? Current rim guards are subject to change.
There will be a test stage, and the set up will continue. Thats the fun.
