the tire that came with the rim has very little wear on it, so I think I will use that for a while.

Hey Travis,

Did you have to shim the wheel on the swingarm with any spacers?  I was looking at your pics and couldn't tell.

Thanks,

No spacers needed on the left, Except for the bushing that sits in the seal.  Just moved it against the swing arm and everything looked good.

The studs for the sprocket nuts cleared the swing arm by about 2mm. That was a little closer than I liked. so I did grind off 1 or 2mm from the studs.

so I have 3 or 4mm clearance just for peace of mind.

It looked like the studs were a lot longer than they needed to be anyhow.

The right side is the one I need a spacer for.  Probably if I had the stock spacer I could just shorten it to fit. But not sure.

There must be a bushing that fits into the brake caliper bracket that I don't have either.

So I am going to get some measurements and have a wheel spacer made that will taper down for the brake bracket.

I would rather have just a one piece spacer as opposed to 6 big washers, making changing the wheel a pain the butt.

A +1 and a Amen on that one Travis.  The less complicated, the better.

Yea, why have 6 when you can have 1....Isn't that why JB Weld was created?

Travis.    If it helps any, there are several zx7 axles that include the spacers/bushings on e-bay... i saw a couple for under 30.00.  And yes, there is an axle bushing for the caliper mount bracket.   I was wondering what you where doing for the brake stay/torque arm? .....and if the FJ axle fit ok.  thanks  Brian.T.

Yeah I looked on ebay, Like you said, if I am going to pay $30+ for a couple spacers that will need to be customized anyways, why don't I just go to the local machine shop and have the perfect spacer made for me?

The axle fit perfectly, didn't change the swing arm so the overall width is the same.

I looked at the back side of the foot peg bracket and it looks like there is quite a few threads in the frame on the other side.

I'm tempted to just put a bolt in there.

quick and easy.

Ive fitted a kawasaki 5.50 wide wheel to my fj1200,remembering exactly what i did is a bit hazy at the moment, but,im about to start getting the bike ready for the road very soon, and will post a bit more info when i take a better look at the bike. From memory,i think ive used an fzr1000 brake and carrier, which i machined to fit,ive used the standard fj12 wheel spindle, with machined spacers and a machined kawasaki sprocket carrier. Pics and more info soon.

What year and bike did it come from?

Here is the spacer, I decided to remove the seal bushing and have the spacer made to fit into the seal.

this should make lining everything up a lot easier when installing the wheel.

Travis, checking to see if any updates from your project.....i just received all my zx7 parts and have been sizing things up today...I had "sprocket specialties" make me a 39T ($69) and with the 180/55/17 Michelin Pilot CT ($122) that puts gearing back to stock (within 0.4 ) .....I was lucky to find a 94zx7 wheel, already stripped, for $35!.(most where $100)..the cush rubber was junk, but found a new one on e-bay for $9. All other hardware,..caliper with brake line, caliper bracket, brake stay and sprocket carrier from e-bay about $145.   I was wondering where you put the brake stay arm? ... it looks like a longer bolt in the front foot peg mount lines up..but not too happy that the one end of the bolt, for the brake stay, wont be supported?     I did get all the zx7 spacers too..i also have a stash of other spacers, so..hoping for the best there. Then used some 400 then 1000 grit s/paper on the outside 2" of the wheel and the lip ...then went to Harbor Freight and got some buff pad/wheels for my drill and went to work...came out nice!  Then to Tractor Supply for some "Valspar -Tractor and Implement" paint (like epoy paint) will get some pics when done... cant wait to ride it!!
