Just waiting for a message from XRay, but I am already to leave. Weather is looking really dodgy, but hopefully it will clear over the range.

You're a mud seeking missile Tony. You seem to go along way off the beaten track to find muddy rough roads.  :rofl2:
Looking forward to catching up with you.
Regards, Pete.

Hi Pete,
I still get a kick out of thinking about that trip  :yahoo:. I had such a great time despite the mud.

I passed through Harrietville yesterday, twice, after an easy 600 km day in magnificent weather.
Clears skies and warm temps made for a great days riding.
I finished up with a lap of Mt Hotham before dinner in Bright just for fun, it doesn't get any better.

I can't remember the last time it rained down here, last year maybe? yep, Autumn in Victoria's High Country is the best riding in the world.

Well, it's 6.00 am Friday and the noise of torrential rain woke me up. 25mm (1") forecast for today!

The TV weather shows rain and storms literally in every state and capital in the country, even Perth and Darwin.
It appears if you are riding a bike anywhere in Australia today you are going to get a wet arse.

I spent last night only 20kms from the rally venue. I'm going to drop my luggage there then do a lap of tomorrow's ride.

See you all tonight.

On a brighter note, the forecast for Sat/Sun is great (and the roads will be washed clean)

Hooley Dooley, it's pissing down here in Bairnsdale.
The rain started in East Gippsland at around 0615 Hrs this morning and hasn't stopped.
I got a little bit wet on my way in to the Bakery this morning after only 30min.
There is one consolation of course, the roads will be pristine on my way to Harrietville this afternoon.
Be careful going over the top today Noel, it's 5deg at Hotham Heights at the moment.
See you at the Pub. :drinks:

Be Good
Stay dry (if you can)

G'day all you intepid travellers. Was hoping the weather would hold for y'all. Nice sunny day where I am but can't take advantage of it to go for a ride as I had a small surgical procedure to my head done on Thursday and can't put my helmet on.
Have a great time.
Anyone heading back north after the rally are welcome to drop by. Have a spare bed if needed.

Greetings all, :hi:
We missed you Dougie. :unknown:
I arrived home early afternoon yesterday.
I followed the rain all the way home. I stayed dry  but the roads were quite wet.

I had a great time at the rally as usual. :good2:
I was happy to shake hands with all my old friends and all my new friends as well.

Great friends, great roads, fantastic scenery and a great bike.
I hope everyone gets home safely.

Be Good.

Arnie

Got back home Sunday late arvo after a 3rd day of great rides,
good food, (overpriced) beer, and great conversations.
Gareth and I chose to take the Buffalo Lake to Whitfield road which we knew
was unpaved, but had been told was "good dirt".
I'm guessing that the person who gave it that review as driving a log truck.
It was loose, coarse, large gravel for the ~50km length of it, with tight turns, steep climbs and decents, and to finish the torture it was corrugated most of the way as well.
We both stayed upright as we tiptoed through.  Gareth lost his headlight protector, but found it again (amazing).
Otherwise it was a great ride, with lovely scenery, and little traffic.
Only rain we saw was on Friday, and that wasn't too bad.
Chalk this up as another great FJ Rally.
Shame about those who couldn't make it this year.

Troyskie

he he, I thought I'd be clever and cut some time off on some back roads from Gunning to Tarago. I even checked google maps to see if they were paved. It looked like they were.

They were ok for dirt, in-fact not too bad. Not as bad as yours sounded Arnie, & I only had about 30k's worth. A quick beer at Nerriga got me over it, then a fast fang up MR92 to home (that's fast for me, not for others).

Most important question......where's the next rally?
1984 FJ1100 Ms Effie brand new :)
1984 FJ1100 Pearlie, stock as.
1985 FJ1100 Mr Effie 647,000K, and running harder than ever
1985 FJ1200 'Yummy' takes a licking & keeps on ticking
2013 Trumpy Tiger 800, let's do another lap of Oz

After all is said and done, more is said than done :)
