Well March will be a month of many Km for me. The weekend before the FJ Rally is the KLR Rally in Kioloa south of Sydney. I will return to Brisbane and pick up the FJ and head down for the Mighty FJ Rally. Looking forward to riding with you all.

:good2: :good2: :good2: :good2:

Excellent Richard, good to see a bloke with his priorities sorted, should be a great weekend.

Pete

when are you planning to head off ?

If I take you up on your offer to stay at yours , maybe I could pick up Troy on the way down ?

Troy, will your arm be fixed up in time ??
G'day Jools, Alf and I are leaving Thursday morning, heading to Corryony for an over-night stay then heading to Harrretville via the Mitta Mitta Rd. You and Troy are more than welcome to stay over here Wednesday night. That invitation is open to anyone else heading to the Rally needing a bed for Wednesday night. I think Troy's arm will be fine for the Rally but he's more qualified to answer that question. Keep in touch and we'll work out the finer details nearer to March.
Regards, Pete. :drinks:

Cheers Pete,

I'll wait to hear from Troy then..............

Late yesterday arvo I set about pulling the head off (ouch!) to get it "serviced" by Bruce Woodley (Powerflow) who reckoned he could do a bit with it.......... :good2:
I am off down to the Phillip Island Classic tomorrow and was planning to pass it over to him there but realistically when I looked at what was required in the time I have left - I had really left it too late so I've decided to leave it till after the rally.
It will be ok, I'll be tail end charlie laying down the smoke screen to keep the cops at bay
Just need to machine that swing arm now for the Wilbers shock and get it all back together.
Still thinking of something..................

Troyskie

The arm is good to go!
Thanks again for the offer Pete, I will take you up on it.
Jools, let me know when you're planning to head through & I'll arrange myself to suit you if I can.

XRay would I he looking at purchasing some camping equipment for our trip or do you have other accommodation in mind. I don't mind doing it on the cheap, but I have a serious lack of bike friendly camping gear.

Mate as long as its not raining I think the idea is to free camp it on the way down. I'm going to check out some single person hikers dome tents and small bedroll that will fit into one pannier easily. I know Glenn has a 3 man tent he is taking so we may be all ok anyway. If its raining, it will be cockroach cheap motels, lol!

Anyone sitting on the fence?

Type "Harrietville" into google images.

Then check out riding sites or google maps on Mt Hotham, Falls Creek, Dinner Plain, Anglers Rest (the Blue Duck Inn) Bright, Omeo, Murray Valley Highway, the Alpine Way, Great Alpine Rd, Mt Buffalo, Khancoban, Mitta Mitta Valley (Pete's favourite) Mt Beauty......

For those coming from the North, if you think your heart can stand it and you want a glimpse of what Heaven will be like for crusty old FJ riders, come down through the Snowys.

After a weekend down here you'll be hanging out for some straight roads and quite likely the centre of your tyres will be the only part left anyway.

I visited the rally venue a while back, as have Richard (Rover) and Pete (Oldktmdude) and it just has great rally location written all over it.

Harrietville is a 'blink and you miss it' village with lots of charm in a great location.

The local traders are well accustomed to motorbike gatherings and love them, even the the bikies. The two groups they dislike are cyclists, (increasingly popular in this area) and BMW group rides. Not a problem however over the rally weekend, we have booked the joint out and more, the spill over spreading to neighbouring sites.

Harrietville is ours!

To any fringe dwellers out there, take the plunge, it will be a great weekend. If your bikes not going don't worry about it, drive up (or down). If you need to turn up on a non FJ, no worries. If you're reading this site your welcome (and maybe even your mate if he's not an arsehole)

Wives and partners are not only welcome but encouraged. Events have been arranged to guarantee they enjoy the weekend while the blokes are off doing blokey stuff, like riding and bullshitting. They probably get their fill of that at home anyway.

Word has it there will be a celebrity attendance but modesty forbids me from giving any clues.

Roll on March....only 51 more sleeps!

:good2: Great bit of Rally promotion there Noel. Couldn't agree with you more, it's easily the best place I've ridden at. (haven't been to Tassie yet)
It's probably time to start an attendee's list. This will help to get an idea of numbers that the Rally ride lunch venue will have to cater for.
