GPS, iPhones, and Google maps have yet to replace paper maps in one significant way. You can't lay one out in the ground while you work on your bike on the side of the road to catch that nut you WILL drop multiple times and curse yourself for dropping over and over. Not that I would know anything about that.

But of course, now that you have an FJ, that situation would never arise.

Just rang Alana at the Blue Duck Inn, Angler's Rest, (http://www.blueduckinn.com.au) to advise her of the expected numbers for lunch for the Rally Ride on Saturday. She's expecting 105 for lunch the day before our ride so she will handle our small group easily. Getting close now, hope everybody's fit and healthy for a great Rally. Getting excited! Regards, Pete. :drinks:

Good news, I will be attending. Heading out early Thursday morning and have all of the following week to return home. My FJ will look a little different this year, it is bright metallic orange and has DL650 written on the sidecovers. i dont think anyone wil pick the difference

There is alway one that wants to contaminate the mix with an inferior bike. I do remember a certain gent from the last rally that was trying to save his front tyre from excessive wear on a foreign bike.

No plans for the trip down, just get there as quick as possible. The return is a different story - any suggestions for some mild gravel back roads in the high country. Would also like to do the old Grafton - Glen Innnes Rd.
What are your plans, would be good to catch up. Do you think the HD can keep up with the big chooky ?

Rally Homework. Got some good news and some even better news.

1. We`ve got three two spare beds at the pub in a family room. Purposely held back for those who were`nt in a position to book due to possible work commitments etc. PM me if you can now pull the trigger!
2. There`s a happy hour on friday night and dinner is available spontaneously on the night as you mingle with the locals.
3. We`ve not only got our own area for the infamous chook raffles etc on saturday night but looks like we scored some live entertainment for background music.... where some have been known ta show off their moves!
4. Pub will put on a Saturday hot brekky for $20 prior to our 8.30am traditional photoshoot line up......but we must have a commitment minimum of 20 persons....so ring the pub now 03 57592524 and confirm individually. (a lower number will transfer the bookings to Bella`s next door, but at the pub where the ride prep & photoshoot is happening is definately best...so please ring your brekky attendence asap)
5.I need some numbers for the wine tour, so perhaps pm me re your choice of friday or saturday as a poll. Could be a lot cheaper to organise a maxi taxi into bright for boutique beers and shopping for the ladies as pub bus is $100 an hour.
Going to the Aussie FJ national Rally feels like these guys after being enclosed with work and commitment, The sensation of such healthy relief is not to be missed! https://www.facebook.com/ultracobra9/videos/975999859124502/?fallback=1

G'day Tony, give me a call when you have talked to Troy and have got your plan together. If you could get down here at around 5pm, that leaves a bit of daylight to drive you guys around town for a bit of a sight seeing tour. Also leaves plenty of time to shed the FJ's and we might even have time left for a beer.
There's a BP servo on the way into Bermi so fuel up there so we can get a clean break in the morning. We've got a BBQ dinner organised so don't fill up on junk food on your way down. Did I mention that we may even have time for a beer or two. :drinks:
