RPM Parts Update

Well, it has been a busy summer of 2012 and I finally took a bunch of time yesterday and added a ton of new parts to the website.

Some of the items include:

The recently requested 84-85 black fairing protectors
Choke & throttle cables
Replacement foot peg rubbers
The Odometer trip button boot to go along with the new button
Bleed screw covers
Stainless steel reusable oil filters for the RPM adapter
DID chain tool
Windshield well nuts
Rear M/C rebuild kit
O.E. under-tank fuel filter
Fork protectors
Throttle cable box and individual parts

I have a box sitting on the floor and I still have to add all of the rear suspension bearings & bushings.
I have a few other new O.E. parts on order that should be in this week and hopefully will be added after I return from the 2012 Renegade Rally.

I am working on several other things and products that once were pipe dreams but they are now on the front burner. From  RPM exhaust & engine bars to the new RPM shift kit. I have sourced a better roller bearing detent as well as a spring that is in the middle as far as stiffness compared to the other shift kit available. That should be added to the inventory middle to late October. The testing of the springs is what I worked on throughout the summer and I have come up with the best combination.

Testing on the rear shock is going well. I am currently testing different sag heights to see the effects on the rear suspension. I can tell you the rear of the bike is much more stable. Even though we are using a light spring, compared to the other aftermarket shocks, the valving of the shock allows the rear suspension to work well without much suspension travel, but the high speed (bumps) travel is great as the IAT valve allows the shock to fully adsorb the bumps. The rear of the bike sits higher all the time because the valving is controlling the suspension movement, not just the spring. I guess I was really not aware of how often my stock shock would bottom out and that has not happened with the new shock yet.

I am also playing with the fork valves as well. The improved rear suspension has caused the front to be too stiff and I am working with the preload there as well. I guess the front suspension was carrying more of the rear suspension than originally thought and now that the rear is carrying its own weight, the front is now a little too stiff.

Keep your eyes on the website for new items as I add them to stock. Please fell free to contact me for any of your O.E. Yamaha part requirements. I order throughout the week and the supplier sends me a box every Friday with the parts that have arrived at the warehouse.

If you have joined my website by added your email, I hope you enjoy the RPM newsletter I send out several time a year. I list several of the new items there as well as featuring riders & racers and have a lighter side read as well. If you do not get the RPM newsletter, go to www.RPMracingCa.com and create your account. You will then receive the newsletter when I send them out throughout the year.

I appreciate everyone's support and it is with your support I am able to continue to bring in more & more FJ parts & pieces to you. It allows me to design and bring to the market new products like the suspension parts and the upcoming exhaust system. Sure, you might find some of the items I have at an online vendor for a cheaper price, but they are not selling with the intent of making your FJ a better bike and keeping it on the road.

If you have a recommendation for an item that you think I should have in stock, please drop me an email and I will look into making it part of my inventory.

Thanks again, Randy - RPM

Another spring?  Will it have adjustable damping, and detent height adjustment, and, and ...?

Wait, these questions seem kind of familiar for some reason....  :-)

Thanks for all the stuff you do and provide for us Randy.

I have the fork valves installed, but it's been raining since I finished them.  I did get a short ride of a few blocks in before the rain started.
Hopefully I'll get a better test ride next weekend.  The week after that I'm heading to Arkansas for a few days.

I don't even have an FJ yet and I want to give this guy a hug and hundreds of dollars of my money. The fact that there is such a great partsman for these bikes is hugely confidence inspiring as far as investing in one for long term.

I'm just hoping that rear shock is done testing by the time I get my bike.  :good2:

Not everyone understands what a completely rational process this maintenance of a motorcycle is. They think it's some kind of a knack or some kind of affinity for machines in operation. They are right, but the knack is almost purely a process of reason.

Damn it Randy I may never buy a new motorcycle because of you. Great work!

Hi Randy, do you have a picture of this filter mounted on an FJ?

I think it either an oil screen solenoid or maybe an oil filter relay.

Dang, I missed this in preparation for the Nor-Cal Renegade rally.

It is a stainless steel mesh screen used to filter the oil.

I am not going to debate the micron rating of the filter as that has been heavily debate on this forum. I have just added it to inventory at the request of the FJ enthusiast.

Parts added inventory today.

Clutch Cover Center Gasket

Front Fender

I am trying to order every color suffix. At this point I have the red, Medium Blue and Dark Violet (blue). It is difficult to get good photos of the colors and I will work on that, but they are listed by year & color in the drop down box.

That's just great!
Is the rear part of the front fender also available new from Yamaha?
Powersports Plus lists them as obsolete.

Okay, for those of you with 87-88 FZR1000 Calipers I have done some research today. The 87-88 FZR1000 calipers use the same rebuild kit as the 89-93 FJ1200.

I have those kits in stock and each kit has the seals for rebuilding one four (4) piston caliper.

Yamaha 89-93 FJ1200/87-88 FZR1000 Caliper Piston

The FZR1000 wheel bearings are also the same as the FJ.

More parts that I have in hand are to be added to the website this week, stay tuned.
