Just won't push.
I hit the governor in my accord & governors produce a bouncing effect when you reach the programmed limit.
Theres no bounce, it just wont continue accelerating.

Do the revs climb but speed does not? Possibly clutch....
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

If my bike limits at 100mph is it because my main-well tube is clogged or is a governor installed on my machine?
IMO. For whatever the reason. I suggest you consider it a gift from God. Helping to keep you alive. With that good night.

the revs dont climb the bike just limits there.
If the mainwell tubes are jammed then im not pushing enough fuel to climb speeds.
Im running stock jets, perhaps the stock jets only push enough fuel for 100mph?

The stock FJ will go more than 100MPH.... Start checking the simple things, like the the things most recently changed/touched....

The manual im reading is specifically for the rochester 2barrel.
Is that the type used on my FJ?

Its delving into the "power system" which delivers addition fuel when the demand exceeds jet capacity.
Would likely be better served reading an FJ specifoc manual for this portion than a generic (though still informative) manual nonspecific to my particular scooter.

I havent done any modifications & the bike has run this way for as long as ive owned it.

What is your gearing? Front and rear sprocket? I don't recall seeing anything odd on your bike, but a smaller front and larger rear will limit top speed...

Stop feeding the troll

Pat, you may want to print this out and frame it.

I agree with you

Just an FYI, I think he means well. I met him, helped him with minor repair. Just in a tough place, at the bottom of the learning curve with FJs and likely motorcycles in general. I think using the search function more and asking general questions less will help this thread....

Well, the way i see it I'd rather be bare assed like a babe
than limit my learning.

Mostly i want to get in there and fiddle with stuff but the books are smart.
And i need a second bike & a garage to really do that.

Arnie

There is no governor on the FJ.
Bikes intended for some markets had restricted intake manifolds which would limit maximum output power.  Thus these bikes would only get to maybe 140 instead of 155mph or so.

My comment about you won't have your bike long enough to wear it out was possibly a bit snide, but I've had my FJ for 18years now, its my primary bike, and I (only) have about 150,000 kms (~100,000 miles) on it.  Others I know of have double that.  Change the oil regularly, keep it in tune and it will last a long long time.  One reason is that most of the time, the engine is loafing.

My best advise to you is to go to your local library (or online equivalent) and get books on, Theory and operation of internal combustion engines, and Theory and operation of carburetors.

Maybe there is someone on the list willing to take the time to provide you with an education, but its not me.  Get some knowledge and if you still have questions, ask.  You're starting from point 0, and we all did that, but you need to exert yourself and not expect others to take you by the hand from that place.

Cheers,
Arnie
