Had some general questions you guys probably know the answers to.

Where are synchros located & how do you engage 1st gear without them?
Is there a rule-of-thumb for cornering speeds? Fir exapmle, 2x the recommended posting. (Im not there yet but am practicing and dont want to exceed physical tirelimits from ignorance)
Recommended rears? I just installed a Pilot front.
Recommended oil? Is Yamalube sufficient with regular changes?
Importance of jetting?
Loss in mpg after #40 upgrade?
Why are the jets variable? How does where they sit in the carb affect fuel delivery?

There are no synchros.  If there were, they'd be in the transmission

All depends on the particular roads authority and their standards when posting corner suggestions.
Note: These posted advisories are usually intended for heavy trucks.
Temperature, level of moisture, choice of tires, your skill and courage level all affect potential cornering speeds.
There is no limit on ignorance

Recommended rears? I just installed a Pilot front.
On OEM rear wheel?  Lots of discussion on this topic - Search

Yes. So is 'diesel' oil. So are Synthetic Motorcycle oils. You won't have the bike long enough to see differences in oil protection properties
Importance of jetting?
Allows the engine to operate (close to) the proper stoichiometric ratios with both efficiency and power
Loss in mpg after #40 upgrade?
Depends on how much time you spend at or just slightly above idle
Why are the jets variable? How does where they sit in the carb affect fuel delivery?
To provide correct fuel/air ratios. Read a carburetor theory manual
Hope that helps your understanding :-)

What was all that business the last few days about synchros?
Autos only? Our scooters operate on plate friction, yes?

Also, how long do you figure the bike can last?
Why wont i have it long?
300,000 mile kinda thing?

You've helped my understanding greatly, Arnie. Thanks mate!

Im reading some introductory theory.

In a 4stroke, like my FJ, there are an even number of cylinders which fire alternately in a linked system so there will always be a power stroke coupled with an intake stroke yes?
And the exhaust/compression stroke is powered by mechanical inertia?

Are jets the "venturi" chokepoint in my FJ carb?

Are float needles the functional part that metes the air being mixed with the fuel flowin through the jets for combustion?

Prevailing symptom of running 'rich'?
Also, the flaots arent for air. I shoulda remembered that from when i rebuilt my carbs but im trying to unpuzzle this manual.

"Also, how long do you figure the bike can last?"  That is up to the owner 100%.

"300,000 mile kinda thing?" There are FJ's out there with over that many miles. More than a few with over 200,000 miles.

"Why wont i have it long?"  Best case scenario. You will get tiered of it and sell it.

Are the air mixture screws located in the carb bowl or elsewhere?

If my bike limits at 100mph is it because my main-well tube is clogged or is a governor installed on my machine?

When you say limits, it it cutting in and out like a rev limiter, or just won't push any faster?
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Just won't push.
I hit the governor in my accord & governors produce a bouncing effect when you reach the programmed limit.
Theres no bounce, it just wont continue accelerating.

IMO. For whatever the reason. I suggest you consider it a gift from God. Helping to keep you alive. With that good night.
