No FJ required, if that's the sticking point.  Ride the Dyna.

Quotethe road called "beale street".

I spent a week in Memphis, years ago.  The "Run Boogy CafĂ©" had great blues.  For Chattanooga, you're on your own.

i predict your feet will be 10 feet off of beale

...and as for music, Muriel plays piano every Friday at the Hollywood.

I skipped a Boone rally 4 years ago because I was out of work.  I didn't want to spend the $100 on gas, and honestly I really couldn't imagine wanting to get out of bed.  Being out of work really hit me hard.

So if you don't want to go, I completely understand.

But the rally is only partly about the bikes, it's mostly about the people.  (I probably should have gone.)  Hell, some of the regulars don't even bring a bike sometimes - Calvin drove his truck to Boone, and we were all just glad to see him.  Frank has shown up in a variety of German cars, and it's the same thing, it's more important to us all that he's there.  So, if you just show up even without a bike, you're probably going to have a blast.

Also, Dave is kind of a weird-bike evangelist and he'll have a GTS1000, an extensively-modded Fazer (now free of oil leaks!) and a Ducati 998 along.  Maybe you can talk him into a spin on one of those.  Or, you can ride my FJ1200 assuming I can talk Dave into letting me try "my" 998 six months before I buy it from him.

Either way, bike or no bike, don't let that stop ya - come on along.

Quote from: Dan Filetti on September 06, 2014, 04:10:42 PMDave is quite conceivably the craziest dude I have had the pleasure to ride with...

He says that in the twisties, the scrubbing of the tire on the pavement was enough to get the oil off the back tire faster than the leak would replenish it.

The first time he rode his 916 to work, he wheelied it off the sidewalk where it was parked, partly as a way to set an example that I shouldn't baby it when we switched bikes.

I'm tryin' hard to make this one. Just cleared it with the shop. Most likely tenting, though I haven't had the chance to chat with Randy.

Has anyone done a Roll Call for the rally? How many are we expecting, more or less?

I will be coming and staying over on Rafter road. Not sure when I will arrive as I picked up a bug this week, but planning to arrive Tuesday morning.

I'll be rolling into campground early Tuesday morning. Anyone up for a ride Tuesday?

Planning on using the no-mar and change tires during the rally. I have a bad habit of not using up tires and putting on fresh ones before I really need to so this time I am using them up. :) :dash2:

Will be rolling in wed night on yet another bike that happened to peak my interest. Did a 1090mile trip to WV and back about a month ago. Light, nimble, and a little bit of power but she ain't no tourer. Well of course I am slowly turning her into a hypersport tourer. :)

Jim,

There a set of SW Motech luggage racks for sale on ADV Rider.  Guy keeps bumping up the ad with no takers.  These racks are great if you have some Givi bags.

Bill_Rockoff

Jim, no Wee Strom with 300 LED lights this time?

I'm dying to see what you got that you are slowly turning into the UFO from "Close Encounters."

My son and I will be getting in Tuesday evening. (shooting for 6-7PM) It's been in the 60s and rainy here in Northern Iowa, looking forward to some warmer and drier weather down south.
