Today mounted correct front fender . Looked at rear axel assembly, rotor bolts touch caliper mount . Are the spacerers reversed on the rear axle? All parts are there clearances are none. Do I take material off the brake mount ? Does the alinment look good? Painted the cleaned up center stand too. Tidied up bearing cap for front end eveything looks straight there. Syncing carbs tomorrow I love that noise. after that install
Gas tank with shielded vent hose. Getting closer he he he. Notice CF blast shield.

Looking good so far..

On the rear wheel , if that is the 92 fj  16" stock wheel then you have the wrong spacer on the brake side.

please clarify what wheel you are using..

spacer needs to be wider for proper rotor to caliper alignment.

Wheel is from a FJ1200 1992 . I ordered the spacer for the brake side.
Today sync'ed the carbs, baffles too much I may remove them,Idles nicely, installed the gas tank ,sticker on rear cowling (important),inspected new pumps (cool).
Pick up CF blast shield tomorrow to start brackets ,install pumps, rebuild rear brake pump.
Pixs include proper front fender.

I'd like some opinions on weather I should use the lower cowling? If I do I would make up a CF version. Anybody interested in getting one too?

Took my freshly Historic registered FJ1100 for it first run (20klm) today after a 15 year layup. I was pleasantly surprised as the engine felt fresh and strong. Gearbox shifted flawlessly. The only minus is a slight tendency to be slow to return to idle or revs to drop between down changes sometimes. Could be a blocked low speed jet in one of the carbs, no biggie. Everything is working as it should.

If you were able to do a lower cowling and the front fender, both the forward and aft sections out of Carbon Fiber, I am sure you would be able to move a few.

Possibly contact Randy at RPM and be the Carbon Fiber front fender and lower cowling supplier.

On the stock 3.5" wheel?  You enjoy living dangerously, huh?

That tire will be badly pinched with the profile nothing like the designer/engineers intended.  And, its not even a 'sticky' tire but one intended to give long milage.
At least it will wear out faster (if you do long highway miles) in the skinny center bit.

And your experience with a 170 on that rim? Does the mods I'm doing look like touring mods? Current rim guards are subject to change.
There will be a test stage, and the set up will continue. Thats the fun.

Before you pull your carbs, check the sync. Perhaps the throttle plate in carb#1 isn't open enough.

The answer to your question is: True

How about Black scoops but the inside of the scoops paint red.

Title: Re: FJ Cash
Post by: Arnie on March 26, 2015, 08:11:19 AM
I prefer the black scoops, but what would look extra good in either color would be for the scoops to be a bit larger so they filled that upper triangle space completely. Shouldn't be too hard for a man with your skills to do a bit of glass layup.

Wow, that is really looking good.

If you were coming up behind me (and I had my good Honda mirror upgrade in place), I'd think I was being followed by that annoying little robot in the "Transformers" movie series. It's just something about that front view.

Keep going, Mon! Lotta work.

Closer and closer. Ultrasonic cleaned emulsion tubes, put it back together, starts and runs low speed, cuts out on throttle. Resync the carbs. try again. New Mockup with windshield.
Rode it around the block, no clunks, drips, or fires, except no throttle responce . Getting eager to ride this ......

Cash,

Your bike is looking great!  And, I enjoy seeing all the pics you've been posting.

BUT, could you please reduce the resolution you're putting them up at, please?
14Mpx won't display any better than 2Mpx on a "full hd" monitor, so I'm not able to see any more detail, and it takes a long time to display (and I'm on ADSL, some who are on dial up just won't be able to view).
In addition, the cost to move all that data for fjowners.com has got to mount up.

Cheers,
Arnie

Cash, I've been following you're build also and it's really fallin together quite nicely. Impressive C/F work and that shortened seat is way cool! Are you gonna do a windshield...I think it looks pretty baddass without I.M.P. +1 to the black scoops. I too have to wait quite a spell to view you're pics...love 'em though. Rides are longer and longer. Got to Nukeum's. Still having carb issues , solving them one at a time. Running Seafoam and gas through the carbs is helping. Also tech support at Dynojet is a resource. Step by step. One more Bracket for cowling to stop the bouncing it's CF . I like the way it handled on Hyw2, brakes are mega, horn is still ugly.
