past motorcycles, 26, too many to list!

racerrad8

Matt,

I just talked with Hank Scott yesterday and he said he still has the bike listed below. The price might have gone up slightly as he has put a battery in it and rebuilt the carbs. He calls it "cherry" every time I talk with him and he tries to get me to buy it.

If I did not have 5 or 6 or 7 FJ's... I would have probably already of purchased it.

Here's one in Bakersfield. You can't beat this one! I'd get it for sure if I hadn't just bought the 1100.

Hi Heliflyer!  I bought the 89  FJ that was at a dealer in Bakersfield. Thanks to you for pointing out the cl ad! I drove 5 hours each way after getting pictures from him. A little pitting in the metals from being a santa barbara bike but looks to be a real under 5 thousand mile bike! Feels like new. wow a little more scratches paint damage than I would like but overall pretty nice bike, new tires, battery, carbs cleaned. But I need new mirrors . Its got some crap after market that you cant even see correctly out of. any Ideas?

Thanks Again!

Congratulations on your purchase.

I have a set of these on my 89' and they work great. Awesome view and very little elbow shows. very inexpensive.

I also have a set of these, they are way better than they deserve to be for the money. I had intended upgrading mine to better quality ones if I liked them. Once fitted, I saw no need.
Fred's got the fancy "carbon fibre" one's at $10 more, I have the cheaper black one's.
Do not confuse these with Emgo's or other cheap mirrors.

I also bought the black ones. I haven't installed them yet but they look good and the mirror looks as clear as the stock units. No idea of how long they will last but for the price they are hard to beat. There is no weight inside them that I can tell.
Fred and Noel, did you add any weight to them ?
George

Congrats on the purchase! It did look like a nice bike, low miles too. Cosmetics are easier than mechanical stuff. As for the mirrors, good advice from the guys here. I bought some Emgo mirrors and I'm not impressed but at least they're there. Mine are bar mounted anyway, unlike yours. Maybe I'll see you on the road sometime, I'll keep my eyes open.

aviationfred

George,

No I have not added anything to the insides of the mirrors. I might at some point.

At highway speeds, they do vibrate a little. Even still, you can make out that a vehicle is behind you and know what color it is. If there are red and blue flashing lights behind you...... :shok: You will be able to see them too.... :pardon:
