Premium priced, but at least the best year (and not one of the prototype models).    :bomb:

More prototype years seem to be sold and on the road than other years, guess they upgraded to a level of incompetence....  :bomb: :bomb: :bomb:

Too many anxious buyers in the market before the design was perfected.

This one's down in San Diego. Not too far from Sac and a nice ride up eastern California back home...

Hey Scott, jealous of your find. Watched your video. Just so you know, Avon does make radials for the 16" that are pretty good, but yes, that is your only option for non-belt tires.

Welcome!

Not everyone understands what a completely rational process this maintenance of a motorcycle is. They think it's some kind of a knack or some kind of affinity for machines in operation. They are right, but the knack is almost purely a process of reason.

Thanks! As you can tell I'm already afflicted with the modification disease. I was able to buy a  GSXR 750 roller really cheap that will donate the rear wheel and brake and I'm cleaning up a 04 R1 front wheel and brakes. I'll post in the projects section soon for those who are interested.

Nope, Continental makes a 16" radial. Here's the link:

Great find, wondering how you are going to solve the speedometer problem by using the 04 R1 wheel, and what forks will you be using?

I wonder why the OEM mirrors were replaced with those Emgo pieces of crap?
Harvy

Harvy, I thought you put those mirrors on all your bikes?

When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

Craig, you're right, I heard Alf mention those but hadn't found them myself.

Kind of a turn off that they're H rated... ?

Avon's have a great reputation, anyways, haven't heard anyone's experience with the continental.

Trav, I have to admit I did try them a few years ago - so I can use the word "crap" with some authority......

Hey, I'm a new member from Sacramento too! I know what you mean about finding a nice FJ but just keep your eye out on Craigslist, they come up. I'm going to make you weep now by showing you my 85 that I just bought here in Sac 2 weeks ago for only $800! Of course it hadn't been on the road in 12 years and had $700 in DMV fees but still a good deal. It wasn't running and had a few rough spots but after a week of cleaning and overhauling the carbs I got lucky and found a really nice 27,000 mile FJ underneath! Here's a link to a video a friend of mine made last Sunday.
