QuoteHe flies back to RDU Monday mid-day to pick up his EX500 and ride to Boone.

Oh just great.  Andrew passed me on his 250.  With his 500, I won't be able to keep him in sight  :flag_of_truce:

I'll have some tools to replace a tire if needed.

carey, my grandmother will be at the rally with her toyota avalon.  bwahahahahahahhaha!!!

dean,

your grandmother better be faster than Hoffman's.  I can almost keep up with her.

Got rear tire mounted and balanced today and bike all washed up and ready to go. Yes believe it or not she was a dirty girl. Been on a bunch of NC dirt/mud/rock/rut roads lately. :)
Just need to pack up all my crap and will be up before diner time on wed.

You go Dean! I dared to top my oil off. Oh my.

I (hopefully) have a pair of exhaust inserts coming on Monday, and will slap those in last thing before I head up early Tuesday afternoon. Otherwise, just gotta wash up and load up. Can't freaking wait to see you hosers!

I *just* finished a work assignment and am about to get out from behind this 'puter for a while.  Job 1 is to try to diagnose the Maxima's misfire and excessive fuel use (one or more coils? one or more stuck injectors?  Most of that stuff has 200,000 miles on it) and then I'll see to an oil change and hydraulic fluid flush for the FJ.  I'm ashamed to note that it has less than 105,000 on it; it turned 100,000 on the way home from Boone last year
(<-- see photo) and is still on the same tires.  And oil filter.

I'm on the road Monday, in a Kabin Monday night.  Cannot WAIT.

Stu, I want to hear the new bike without exhaust inserts.  I don't know who that poor deaf sonofabitch Leo Vince is, but I sure liked his exhaust system on the Ducati 916 I rode last fall.

same here, oil+filter last night.   Also I dropped in some off-brand bead balancer - ie dyna beads.  never tried and always doubted.   Fun stuffing a couple ounces through your valve stems.     Now we shall see once and for all.. I will not hesitate to call bs on these things if I don't see any difference.

Hey stu, what's up with a "pair" of exhaust inserts?  Last i checked, drz's have one exhaust.. You trying to pull something?  whatchoo got?

gearheadstu

V-twin, for the win  :good2:

Wow Stu, nice!

Dean, at least the FJR has a spin on filter.  No filter drain screw to tempt you.

Wear your gear.

Bill_Rockoff

So does my FJ.  (Thanks RPM!)

I wouldn't be surprised if there are more FJs these days with spin-on filters, blue-spots, 17" rear wheels, etc. than without.
