Well folks due to a fuckerd up back I won't be attending this spring rally this year. I was so hoping to catch up with the group and let you all know I'm still alive and kicking. Have a great rally and don't get in too much trouble.. I miss you guys....

Eric-

Backs are tricky and I'm not at all sure that this admittedly unsolicited advice, will help, but I find that keeping limber/ stretching helps keep my back, pain-free.  Once there is an injury, all bets are off you need time to heal.  But, I do know that when I am doing a lot of heavy lifting, where my back is subject to potentially being hurt, I stretch before and after I do so.  I know this is subject to abuse but I'll say it anyway...  I actually have a Pilates ball I use to stretch backwards over.  Seems to make a BIG difference.

Take that advice for what it's worth.  Sorry you'll not be there to ride! Hope to see you there anyway.

Half way through my 16hr work day today. Bike is all packed and just need to walk on the treadmill and cut the grass in the morning. I should get a push mower and I could kill two birds. Man I am so ready to leave. Can't wait to see everyone.

Andrew & I both got back a little bit ago.

We had a bit of traffic through Boone going south on 221, so I made an Executive Direction Decision (that turned out okay for once!) and we hopped on the Blue Ridge Parkway, taking that south to Asheville.  It was nearly empty of cars, but there were a lot of bicycles.  Makes sense, weekdays have no traffic there, so it's a great place to ride before most schools let out during the week.  Riding the Parkway was incredible, as always.  And in this case, it was probably as quick as any other way.

Route 211 crosses every other road in North Carolina at least four times.  I saw half a dozen interchanges along the BRP.  I'm going to blame Route 221 for me always getting lost.

I picked the wrong Route 25 ("business") and we had stoplights through Hendersonville.  (So much for blaming Route 221.)  We picked up the fast Route 25 ("limited access") south of there and took SC11 back to I-85.  Andrew & I split off at I-285 and Roswell Road, me going north and him going south.  He got to his mom's quickly I imagine, with all traffic going the other way.  I got a bit of traffic going to the burbs.

I need to confirm with John and make plans to get him and get back up there tomorrow night.  I hope you're all safe back at camp and/or back at dinner.  It was great seeing everyone, can't wait to see the other subset of "everyone" tomorrow night.

Y'all ride well.

Eric, sorry to hear about your back.  Wrenched mine two weekends ago, just getting back to normal.  Not bad enough not to ride to work, but I don't think it would feel good on an all day trek.

Hoffman and a woman.  Good thing David isn't there to share the kabin.

Got home this afternoon at about 3. The drive home was uneventful enough, but this morning's quick little blast of a ride was exactly what I needed. Hope y'all that headed to Little Switz had a good ride!

Not only the ride to and from LSNC was great, so was the Smoked Salmon salad.   :good2:

Always is! I'm about at the point where I don't even want to look at their menu. Just pick something at random, it'll be good.

The rain finally caught up with us here.

Fire is roaring, and most of us made it back to camp first.

Read that in the paper yesterday morning.  Was wondering if anyone was over there to 'see the parade'.  We found it by accident many rallies back.

Some of us made a pass through there about mid afternoon Friday.  I didn't know, before reading this article, that it was an appalachian trail / hiker parade.  Thought it was a hippy-festival   Seems there's a lot of overlap in the hippie/hiker look.

Anyway sorry to hear that happened.  50-60 injured.. wow.   Lucky no one was killed.
