Howdy fellow Mansheders, I got my new chain delivered today, picking up a new rear sprocket tomorrow to go with the new front ordered from RPM, so that is one job I would like to do as well on Sunday time permitting. Do you have a grinding implement General and chain riveter handy? I'm just working out what tools I need to bring as well, (don't have a riveter, have a grinder though  ).

I'll bring some tools I know I will need for some specific jobs anyway. I always think its more efficient to do maintenance work with more than one set of eyes overlooking the job at hand.
Out of the 11 or so of us spending the day at The Generals, what are the main jobs that everyone wants/needs to do?
I'm hoping to fit my spin on filter kit/sync carbies/fit new chain and sprockets, and learn from Baldy what to do with these damn engine mounts. And help out where needed of course. What doesn't get done will be fine for me to do back home, the oil cooler mod being one of them.

Should be fun.

dam, if i had of known i could of lent you guys a chain breaker,  only a breaker and not a riveter as well though,  so only half the fun    , also have a chain tensioner, makes fitting the joining link much easier  , especially on your own, but you blokes should be fine with a shed full of hands  :good2:

As I won't be there and am feeling left out and very jealous, I don't think we should encourage this sort of behavior

excellent point locked in a shed with a bunch of smelly men, or out on the FJ cutting a dashing debonair figure attracting attention from every good looking female (of the homo sapien variety) within a hundred miles  :good2:  :rofl2:

Yeah yeah yeah, we got a big hammer, 2 pair of Stillsons, a grinder (Somewhwere - I betta check), Underarm soakademia (found it), Somewhere ta hang ya jackets (a fence), Chain breaker (refer item 3) someplace ta spill oil, (refer ta jacket hangar - no termites here ever!) First Aid Kit (Pkt a bandaids) Got some chairs for us students - had a lounge too, till the old girl noticed it miss`n from upstairs - but going to tha Tip today so might find somethin. Weather forcast is fine and a bit warm for tomorra. (could possibly get wet if ya stayed on the Gold Coast, but BOM says perfect as usual within 100klms of me)  -- I reck`n we`ll have plenty of wind.
I Bought a hardened Steel Bolt and long nut ta copy Ribberts MK111 engine mount puller. A mate made the thread longer on his lathe (Not sure if that weakens the thread strength?) and got some washers in case we need`m and hoping like hell we got the right socket ta use as spacer thingy. Was settin up a tank but Baldy tells me we use existing tanks on bike to be synchonised - Got fans and plenty of room for FJ pets incl fresh carbon monoxide and your choice of coffee, tea, bangers or ice cold refreshments. ---Now ta read the instructions from Randy re the fork upgrade... might need some more tools. ..Got tha broom handle (Dena won`t know, cause she has ta work this Sunday..Hehehee) and I`m sure there`ll be an axle nut in the carpark   :drinks: ... I luv weekends....and sheds....mmmmm

Sounds good Doug. Just out putting the back wheel in and packing some tools etc. I'll bring a grinder just in case  :good2:

As a side note, I'll be giving my re-soled Gaernes a test run tomorrow, bloody good boots but the rubber sole perished from lack of use (or age)      Mr Minit put a couple of good thick soles on for $99.00, bargain. Meeting Baldy and Harvs? 7.30am at the twin BPs, *yawn*. Have to take it easy with the new shiny back tyre on, can you scuff them up a bit with sandpaper to take the shine off, or is it a case of just let the road do the job?
