Clutch m/c list, is there one? If so can you point me towards it!

I have devolved a small leak just above the side stand which I suspect is the clutch slave cylinder bypassing when in use.  I figured it would be a good time to look at swoping out the clutch M/C seeing as the system will drained anyway. A mention was made of there being a list somewhere on here of suitable alternatives, but I can't find it. Can anyone point me the right way?

I have read a number of the threads and i am sensing the 14mm option is what I'm looking for, but would prefer to be sympathetic to the original black block style. Loads of fjr stuff in the uk (which I understand is actually 15mm), but only a few xjr ones about.

Any cognitive contributions greatly received!

Hello again nurse.

The FJR clutch m/c is the one you want. The 14 mm. m/c refers to the front brake when swapping to later monoblock calipers.

Hein.
What do you mean, you don't have a lathe?

nurse

Cool that's any easy one to sort, there seem to be a fair few about at the moment!

Forgot to ask with the fjr clutch mc is there any particular year to look for or avoid?

Hi nurse.
I don't know about which models to avoid, but I used 2001 fjr1300 brake & clutch mc's on my 86 with good results.Nice adjustable levers too!

Cheers  :drinks:

Stay rubber side down.

03 was the first year FJR in Canada and the part number for the clutch m/c is the same for 03-11.

Cheers folks.  Have heard mention of braided lines from the clutch mc.  Having looked at my 3xw it appears that a fair proportion of the line is rigid (metal) anyway where it runs by the motor itself.  Is there any mileage in swapping the rubber section that isnt, over to braided?

Forgot to ask, what needs to be done to match up the micro switch wiring as the connectors look very different!

would only be two wires im fairly sure, should be easy enough to splice the new plug on the fj wires,,,, im using a braided clutch line from mc to clutch slave, didnt notice any dirrerence, except the line now matches my braided brake lines  :good2:

Search ftw.

Getting rid of the steel section of line means a couple fewer possible joins that can leak and/or catch air when bleeding.  Just replace the entire thing with a single line, should also be cheaper, with half the fittings.

nurse

Thankyou andyb, i never thought of the simple, single line in that context to be honest!  Any issues with heat being so close to the block?

I will probably be clearer on the wiring when i see/play with it. 'oh the red wire's connected to the green wire!'

Have ordered the FJR clutch m/c + lever and it should be with me after the weekend!

Is the black partly round section above the side stand switch the clutch slave cylinder? Anyone know?

almost, the lowest part is the oil filter housing, the upper section with the bleed nipple and hose going to it is the clutch slave, ,    3 bolts and it comes out

The fluid itself is light brown but after a good run seems to have what appears to be a mucky rust like staining to it. It collects and drips from the lower housing. But looking at the paint stripping as seen in the pic I'm guessing it is running from above therefore I guessed slave cylinder

seems to be an issue with them leaking rpm sells the kits, maybe even complete slaves  :scratch_one-s_head:, only the 3 bolts to take out if you want to check it, nothing will fly out, just dont start the bike , or pull the clutch lever in while its off , messssy  (popcorn)
