Stock carb settings?

Well, sadly I cannot afford a new exhaust at the moment. I have to install the original exhaust if I want to ride. I had it running jets with Randy's suggestions.

The question is, with a drop in uni filter and stock exhaust, what settings should i be running? Jet sizes, clip location and mixture screw.

I know, noob question, but what can I say, lol.
Thanks guys!

Very close to stock IMO.
You might want to open up the mix screw 1/4 - 1/2 turn IF YOU NEED IT (backfire on overrun).
May also want to lift your carb needles by 0.5mm (20 thou - 1/2 groove) by adding the washer.
But these are probably unnecessary.  Stock should run fine.

Kinda toasty down under in the summer months so for cooler running, I would suggest #40 pilot jets instead of the stock 38.5's.

Henry, it helps when you can remind us on what model you have...Looking back to your early posts, you have a '90 model, if so... and assuming you have a UK model, common in Australia, you already have #42.5 pilot jets and your stock needle clip setting is 2nd from the top.

Ok, wait a minute Henry....it's you!! The Aussie map threw me.....? Is that even a Aussie map?  You still have your FJ?  Good for you.
It's not too warm in the bay area, go with your stock set up, 37.5 pilots they should be fine.....40's are ok also.
Randy says that with the adjustable needles the 3rd clip down from the top matches what the oem non-adjustable (USA) needles setting.
Air/idle screws start at 3 turns out, then adjust as the blip test warrants.

It was good to see you in Porterville... :good2:

Good morning,
I also use the stock exhaust on my 1991 with the Uni air filters. I would suggest following Randy's advice re: carb settings. I did and (cool in the Bay Area? Try the Walnut Creak/Concord temperatures) and you will find all around good performance, without back fires, pinging etc. regardless of the temperature, road conditions or time of day...
The Uni filters also have a pleasant intake sound as well. While I believe you will have an increase in power, I can't say for sure, but it feels like it.

I thought it was a map of the IOM course.  But it's too small to really tell.

How hard would it be to weld a universal canister onto the remnants of the v@h 4-1 header and midpipe? I might try that.

a new exhaust...

Henry - It's Frank in San Jose.  I have the exhaust that was on Klavdy's FJ when I bought it...  Header is not great, but definitely useable and the muffler is pretty nice.  It is super trap, but not the one with the plates.  You come get it and it's yours.

Let me know if you're interested.
