Low speed ratcheting with throttle on off

There must be a torque converter on the front sprocket? That wears over time?
I have a little ratcheting going on in the city driving when gassing in 1 and 2 gears.
Seems like a noise coming from up front near drive sprocket..no shifting problems.
Could be sprocket slop? Still running the originals at 25k.

Any suggestions?

  Yep I studied the manuals today.
Any tips on the new driveline change..looks like this ones going to be up on the stand
after the weekend.

Loosen the countershaft sprocket nut before removing the chain.

Trust me on that.

Don't cheap out on parts. Replace both sprockets and buy a top line chain. I am partial to the EK SRX chain, but I ride a 600 and change it out at around 6-7000miles. I hear real good things about the EK zzz series and the VM series from DID. I use JT sprockets, but again I do not expect alot of life out of them. Thats not to say JT is a bad product, just that I prefer not to run worn chains and sprockets.

If I were running a stock FJ, I would really consider the OEM countershaft sprocket, top line Riveted chain, and the rear sprocket of your choice.

Good catch.

An FJ can destroy a chain tremendously easily.  Broken chains most of the time are just a hassle, but occasionally will wrap the countershaft and add all sorts of ventilation to parts of the cases.... BTDT..

The countershaft is not left hand threads. They are metric right hand threads.. you can grind the pins down on any one link and use a chain press to remove any link from the stock chain.

Got it worked like a charm with 4.5 grinder and a nail set. I just sat on top of the bike and spun the front loose with
a 36mm socket wrench
