flasher relay might be bad?

i would say they work fine. cause i still think its the flasher relay.

I dont understand how it cant be, everything pionts to it. I dont see why you guys cant see that but insist on it being the turn signals.

so lets throw this out there, i have my original handle bar switch and front turn signals on the bike(which worked fine before i installed the new handlebar switch, but it has the old one back on it now), they turn on when the bike is turned on, but wont blink when i turn the turn signal switch button on.

You guys still dont think the flasher relay is the problem?

Travis, that would be correct for the  rear flasher bulbs [1156] and for the fronts [1157s] would be the ticket.

  What year is your bike. My '86 has self cancelling signals witch have more wires than the newer R1 handle bar switch has. I ended up using an automotive flasher unit to make everything work. I never used the self cancelling feature anyway. I was already in the habit of pushing the button after turning.

i have an 87 fj1200, on a 91 frame. BUT when i was looking in the manual on the wiring diagrams it shows the 86 and 87 models have 2 wires to the front two turn signals, mine has 3. Which in the books looks like a 89-90 wiring harness

The rear signals are LED, i had them installed before i messed around with the fronts. And they worked perfectly fine with the system, but once the front was installed(which are normal standard light bulbs) they wouldn't work either way with the new or old handlebar switch, then i tried putting all the old turn signals back on and still nothing with the new or old handle bar switch, except that the front would light up but not blink, that's why i have a feeling its the flasher relay.

The LED bulbs were probably marginally enough draw to make the flasher flash......  the new combination does NOT draw enough for it.  Put regular bulbs back in the rear and tell us what happens.....

When i installed the Rear LED signals it still had the front stock ones on it. Worked perfectly fine, that's how it is right now with the old handle bar switch and still wont work....

before i changed out the handlebar switch with a new one they worked perfectly fine.  But yes i did stick the old ones back in the rear and still no flash.

If you've got the turnsignals plugged into the carbs, well uh erm ah....

I don't get why you guys think I'm that dumb here to not know how to wire something up, I may be young but I know how to wire something up. I've been working on bikes and cars and trucks since I was 14, dad was an air force mechanic so I know how to work on these things and trouble shoot something. Mechanics are pretty standard throughout everything besides some exception here and there. Turn signals take a hot and a ground, not that hard, and the flasher makes the connection for the blinkers which makes the lights blink.

yea I had a bad experience on here before but I've tried to change that and have but i still get bashed every time I put a post on here. every time!

I mean yea guys say its the dual filament front turn signals, but I know its not cause the stock ones are dual filament also. they pull the same amount of power, then you say its the LED rear ones cause they wouldn't work on your bike, but they work on mine just fine, even when I got this bike 6 months ago it had rear LED signals and has had them ever since until the stems broke and I just replaced them with new LED signals, they work fine.

My original post stated on how can I test the flasher to check and see if its bad.

And ive done everything you guys have told me to to test this.

So I don't understand why yea guys still think I'm so dumb here, yea I may not know everything, that's why were here right?
