I used dunlop in the 120 80 16 or bridgestone ,both grip well wet or dry but wear fairly fast being 16 inch on a heavy bike, since changed over to 17 inch front, better choices of tyres
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it

84 Fj1100  effie , with mods
( 88 ) Fj 1200  fairly standard , + blue spots
84 Fj1100 absolutely stock standard, now more stock , fitted with Fj12 twin system , no rusted headers for this felicity jayne

I had shinko tyres on an xj750 seca, they started de,laminating at 600 km importer sent me a new rear free of charge , i opted for a better brand on the front

FYI, every brand turns out a bad tire once in a while.

How they handle it determines, at least in part, whether they are a 'good brand' or not, IMO

Sounds like they took care of you.

Yep, there has been a few dodgy tyres on the market, had shinko tyres before and for what they cost had been brilliant tyres

pilot road??? anyone???

yes. pilot road (I) rear & power 2CT front is my combo of choice, best mileage + they wear out at the same time. 5000+ mi,  all other rear sport radials I have tried before & since give up by 3500, and usually less than 2500 on 2CT power

that old school p road is a great tire for the rear!

Having a problem with the literature? It says "Dunlop" and "Sportmax 2". What is the F%$# problem? Put them on and ride it like you stole it. I just ordered one for my Purple rear. But the Purple will be gone...and I will need some other cosmetic issue with my bike to keep the paparazzi snapping photos. The moon boots are already gone as I am now home from the WCR where I left them....Anything else?

It is important to ride what you know. I have ventured into the realm of 17" for my rear. Holy F%$# crap, more choices than a mosquito has in a nudist camp. I burn through three fronts (Avon AV45) to one rear (Avon AV46). This is in part to running a 120 front on a 3" wheel, it is pinched and the sides get scrapped off quicker than a proper front profile. After my front upgrade to 17" 3.5 inch I should see different wear differentials. Find tires that fit you....
