Hi all...what year did yammy come out with the 17 inch 3 spoke front  are they all the same  for all the years   will it bolt up to my 1985 fj1100   how about the brakes?

89' got the new wheel, the discs are bigger (and different bolt pattern) won't work on older forks.

When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

88 got the new wheel, but it wasn't imported to the US.  88-90 is functionally the same bike.

Yes Andy is right, I keep forgetting we are the only ones deprived from the '88 FJ's.  And that they actually exist :pardon:

My first post wasn't very specific, so i was hoping someone would refine my points...  (popcorn)

Later wheels will bolt on to your '85, however the brakes will not.....rotors use a smaller bolt pattern, and caliper mounting is different.
You would need a set of '88-up lower fork legs, and 88-91?(before ABS) front rotors.
Then you are welcome to my '90 wheels and front calipers. the rear wheel will bolt right on with no changes. :good2:

FZR1000 wheel will bolt to 88-up forks with no problem......The FZR rotors will not work though. They are slightly larger diameter than the FJ rotors..FZR calipers were mounted slightly higher....You need 88-up(non ABS) FJ rotors. You don't need a triple tree though. The '89 forks will fit your early triple tree.(actually all you need is the lowers. Your early upper legs will slide right into later lowers)
I used my FJ axle, and all my FJ spacers(except the one inside the wheel between the bearings)
Easy bolt-on' but you have to use an '87 or '88 FZR wheel......they changed the axle and bearing size after that.

You need 88-up(non ABS) FJ rotors.

Those rotors were used on a number of models. They were used on fzr 600's and TDM's , just to name two.
