I have a FZR1000 front wheel to put on my FJ but realised today I will need to fit FZR discs to it. Unfortunately all FZR discs available to buy are 320mm. No good!

The FZR front wheel is a common modification so can anyone share where I may find 295-300mm discs to fit?

Any other bikes compatable with it? They're 6 bolt and 80mm PCD fitment.

Stock 89-93 Non-ABS discs are correct. I have the FZR1000 3.5" front wheel, been running a pair of used 89 discs for years. Factory Yamaha pads are kind to the rotors with excellent performance.

Many FJ owners have installed these rotors with very positive results.

I'm not the fastest FJ rider, I am 'half-fast', the fastest slow guy....

I second that, when bedding in the Arashi rotors I heard a slight growl under harder braking. Once the pads bedded in, they are smooth and quiet.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

thank you. I got some discs but next problem.... The FJ has a speedo thing one side so no problem there but on the right the round plate (ABS bracket??) will no longer fit and fill the space. How did you guys over come this?

I can cut out the centre section I guess. On the FJ the whole thing sits inside the centre bore of the disc.

I am sure the ABS crowd has solved this problem. No ABS on my 86 or 89.

What's wrong with 320mm rotors?

It does not matter how slowly I go as long as I do not stop.

The rotor size is dictated by the location of the caliper mounting lugs on the forks. ****
320mm rotors are too big for the caliper mount locations on the FJ forks.

*** Exception: There are custom plates made for altering the brake caliper locations.

Re: ABS. When you remove the ABS plate you replace it with the non-ABS stock FJ wheel spacer.

Thank you yes I searched for an exploded image of the FJ and FZR wheels and found the collar spacer was my missing part. Ordered and on its way thank you
