Rough Idle and bogg

Hello everyone! I am new to this forum. I picked up my first Fj1200 its the 1989 Grey White and Red stripe one. The guy I bought it from turned 80 years old recently had the bike since 1994. From what I heard the bike has not been started in about 2 years. So, When I got the bike dropped off to my house. I took the carbs straight off. I removed all the jets Diaphragm and Floats cleaned everything put it back together. Bike starts up really nicely, but it bogs down when pulling the throttle. Have to go very slow with it to get it to rev up a little. So, what I did was took the carbs back off and I realized that one of the floats was sticking a little. I took out the float needles and seen that they are not perfect needle shaped they look like the rubber on them has been pressed against the hole that it slides into for a while. I ordered a complete rebuild kit on eBay I should have in a few days. Jets needles floats gaskets it's there. I also ordered a carburetor calibration kit. So, I am just wondering if there could be anything else that I am overlooking. I mean if I can get it to run good for at least a couple days so I can understand what's wrong. I want to go to DMV and register the bike before the end of week but all the stuff I bought online won't be here till Thursday. I changed the oil new air and oil filter new spark plugs new battery. Just looking for a little insight Thanks would love to be a part of this community. My bike is not even running properly yet and I want to get another one lol.

Welcome to the forum!  I'd go a little deeper in the carbs and make sure everything is actually clean.  My journey is documented with pictures here:

I got the bike running as good as its going to get without new Float Needle valves and new floats I ordered a Calibration kit. After taking the carbs off 6 times today I got it to a good point where I rode it for about miles and came back home. Wednesday I will have my Rebuild kit and Calibration Kit. All I need from it is the Needles and Floats for now. Because they are kind of sticking and the Needles are rubber ended so they are worn down.

For your rebuild kits in the future, don't use eBay kits, the best supplier of quality FJ parts in the USA are our Forum hosts, RPM - buy from them 

Better still, send them your carbs and have them re-do the whole lot for you - they'll come back perfect !!!

Yes, listen to Dean^^ if you are going to tackle the cleaning job yourself, do yourself a favor and use only genuine Mikuni parts in your carb.
Before we had RPM's excellent carb service we had to clean our carbs ourselves, so it can be done.
We have an entire section over in our Files devoted to carbs.
