What about Big Sur Rick?  I drove past a rudimentary campgrounds near Hwy 1 some years ago.  If that locale seems attractive, I'd be willing to search for that campground.

Big Sur is fairly isolated along the coast, and access to twisty mountain roads is limited. Believe me, we don't want to be relegated to north/south runs up and down Highway 1. It can also be bitterly cold in June. There is a place down near Santa Barbara that looks promising, and it's within an hour ride from Malibu and the mountains above Ventura. Maybe some of the LA based folks can let us know if that area is doable.

Cachuma Lake looks like a very nice venue. Not on the beach, but very close, with accommodations that range from camping spots to full size cabins and even waterfront Yurts.

Help us out, Pat. What is the riding like out by the Los Padres mountains? Does it make any sense to try and find a place out there?

I would suffer a little rain for those roads again...

I second this...  had we known what we were trying to do the first time around (36, 101, 299, 3 loop is a friggin racetrack!), I'd have kept going and it would have been a good day at least.  Instead, the rain and uncertain rides made for more risk than most wanted to take...  beers around the fire won out.  A little drying time around a nice fire is pretty awesome.

I'll start a vote for Hayfork again in the next few days...  hopefully at least all the people that went can vote and comment.  I'd also like to hear if others would like to join...  We had much more capacity to utilize at this place.  I have also reached out to Kent to see if we are welcome at Bar 717.

It's been several years, but there are a couple of nice Highways 150/153/33/166 but I don't know of any camping facilities with KOA like cabins....lots of tent camping and hiking trails in the Los Padres National Forrest.
I can say with certainty, if anyone wants to go down to the coast to see the Pacific Ocean, the entire seaboard from Ventura to the south thru Goleta (north of Santa Barbara) is heavily congested.

I would pick Willits with Hwy 20 to Hwy 1 to Leggett and back on the 101 over the crowded Santa Barbara area any day. That's just me.....

That's what we need to hear. Thanks for the info. I found a couple more places I'll post up tomorrow.

You've got plenty of time for the beer, Pat. Five years at least.

Rick,  Monkey - San Dimas Mike and I ride  the Cachuma area and it has been a run we have done at least once a year.   Hwy 33 is one of the best out there and one of my favorites.  There is a better route I think though -- rather than continue north on HWY 33 --- there is a road called Lockwood Valley Rd -- turn Right and follow it.   there is a place we would want to stop at about 3 miles down once you make the turn -- its back in a valley off the road a bit but a great place for a lunch stop -- Reyes Creek Tavern ( bar and grill ? )  -- then continue East to Cuddy Valley - that eventually takes you back to 166/33 -- and you can head back to the 33 to go south again.

the above run wouldn't be busy -- Monkey and Mike can weigh in on the above as well -- There is a dollar bill on the wall ( a few actually) at Reyes with us and FJowners represented there.

Another run but like Pat says can be busy but just as you get into the closer Malibu area around Zuma beach is to go down to Hwy 1 but turn off at Decker or Mulholland earlier to avoid the Malibu scene.   A visit to the Rock Store would be awesome with the group -- a famous local hangout that is always busy with Bikes and cars.  Also the Famous Mulholland Snake is just before you arrive at the Rock Store,   One caution though as of this writing the Snake is closed due to the fires early this year -- I was just there a few weeks ago and that part of the road has barriers --- I can't say if by June it will re-open or not.  But access to the Rock Store is still available you just have to go up and around to the north a bit.

There are at least those two runs -- but it maybe two much for the northern folks to come down this way but I will vouch for the roads down here as I travel from Oceanside up there just to do them when we get together - typically a 500 mile day.

My only input at this point is, Petaluma is out.

My dad and I were talking a few weeks ago. He had a retired friend and bought this place: http://www.burneymountainguestranch.com/

I took a quick glance at the website and the facility seems a little small for us, but then again if the majority pups their tent like they did last year, maybe it can work, if...

I talked to Ramos about the area and he said he wasn't sure of good riding roads.

So, if there is not any good riding, that defeats the purpose.
