Be sure to check your oil. Mine filled the crankcase with gas. Twice. Then put a manual petcock on it.

A while back I posted about a fuel shut off solenoid. I've never had a problem with fuel in the sump but with some of the places I go it's not worth the risk. Also, I am still running my original fuel pump at 200,000km it can't be far off failing.

Under $30 and a quick fit. It has a manual override in the event of failure and the default position is closed.

I made a bracket and rubber mounted it

It can be mounted pretty much anywhere

You could even do away with the manual petcock on gravity models with this.

Going to schedule some bench time for the FJ -

Low RPM miss, it's abrupt, I'm thinking ignition (coil).

It clears out when opened up, almost carb like, but I'm leaning towards the later.

Check for a cracked spark plug

Good call and plugs are cheap

As soon as I can make some time.....

I pulled the plugs and here is what I found -

Looks like I have an issue.

Hopefully something carburetor related.

Ideas? Anyone feeling motopsychic?

Maybe, maybe not...
Now that your valves are adjusted, put some fresh plugs in then warm up the engine and do a compression test. (Throttle open)  Let us know your #'s

Had a guy come into the shop today, I was busy, they interrupted me, they said he had a couple FJ seats, whatever.

I went up, yes, he has two seats, Corbins, one a gunfighter, the other hads a backrest or something like that.

Sure, how - wait, there's more?

Oh, and there is a FJ1100 that goes with them. "It's been parked outside awhile, but it dyno'ed at 120HP back in the day. It has a head, it's faded, dent in the tank, tires need air, clear title"

I'll pick it up Sunday and post pictures - might be exactly what is needed to finish the salt bike I've been sitting on......

Not so sure that electric petcock will flow enough fuel for the gravity fed FJ's.  Fuel pumpers, sure, no worries, but the oem petcock outlet and fuel line diameter on the gravity flow bikes is considerably larger. Must be a reason.

10mm tube vs. 6mm tube. Must be a big difference in gravity flow between the two, almost half the size.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Yea, at a quick glance, it looks like a 6mm fuel line would be over half (60%) the size of a 10mm line, but it's actually much less in regards to flow.
Funny thing about the area of circles, it goes up by the square root of the radius.
10mm ID = 78.5 sq/mm
 6mm ID = 28.2 sq/mm

The 6mm line is only 35% the area of a 10mm line.

Math check Pat...  Area of circle = (3.1416) x Radius2...
