What Clutch Fiber Plates to Buy

Hi . Clutch is slipping a little under hard Kookaloo  in 3rd above 6000 rpm up. Looking at replacing the Fiber Plates and the Main Spring when ever I get around to it ,, I have already bought a new Yamaha main Spring ready to fit . I just need some info on what Fiber Plates to Buy , Is it best to just use the Yamaha Fibers only ??? or are all the other branded cheaper Fibers Plates on eBay OK to use ,, ,,,thanks for help ,,cheers

OEM Yamaha, EBC, Ferodo, Vesrah are all good choices. Stay away from Barnett fiber discs. They make great 6 spring conversion pressure plates, but their fiber discs leave something too desire.

PS look at the RPM 7 wide disc pack. It gives a bit more surface area to grip.

Fred, may I ask why you you are advising to stay away from Barnett frictions?

I sell many more OEM frictions than the other aftermarket options, but I think that is probably based more due to price.

If there is something specific wrong with those clutches? I need to make Barnett aware and if they don't fix the issue stop selling them. I have never had a complaint from anyone who purchased a set of Barnett frictions, that is why I am asking.

My experience with the Barnett friction discs go back many years. This was back in 1988/1989 and my FJ1100 was on the drag strip every Saturday over the summers. The Barnett fibers did not grip as well as the OEM fibers or Ferodo fibers that I have used.

Okay; I'm sure just like everything else, technology has improved today over what they offered almost 30 years ago...

Since I started selling the Barnett stuff a few years back I have not had one complaint; that is why I was asking.

In fact I have just installed a new experimental friction material into a Baby Grand Stock Car with an R1 engine. We have burned up three different manufactures clutch frictions. I have been working with the Mike Taylor, who is the owner of Barnett. He has a passion to make sure his products are the best on the market. Then to top that off, when I went to him with the issues I was having with the car, he made up a set of frictions for me to try.

I have already planted the seed in his mind after telling him about Chris' 200+ mph standing mile build. It sounds like he wants to be a part of that as well. Hopefully we can start working on his assistance after the holidays in preparation for next season.
