I spent the holiday weekend riding the roads around the surrounding areas of the Central Rally's headquarters, with a couple of other riders (non-FJ). I have come up with a pretty good route, that goes north, then west to the Mississippi River, then south, and back east to the Rally's home base. Twisties, sweepers, elevation changes, scenery, some boredom, but not much. It's around 250 miles long. Gas stops, food places (none of which, will win any culinary awards).

Riding pace will be spirited, but no knee-dragging, or triple digit speeds either.

Attendance of the ride will require your cell number, and an emergency contact with their phone number, for obvious reasons.

Come along if you want. If you don't want to do the whole thing, bring a map, there's plenty of places to bail, and then go where you want on your own.

I highlighted the route with a highlighter on this handy map that I bought years ago. No GPS route to share. Sorry.

The route goes due north out of Spring Green, and over to and through Richland Center. It goes no further north than Soldiers Grove. And no further north on the Mississippi River than Ferryville. When going south along the Mississippi River, and then away from it, the route goes southeast to the Wisconsin river before and north of Prairie du Chien. It crosses the river at Boscobel, and then stays close to the south side of the Wisconsin river, heads east, then crosses over the Wisconsin River to Spring Green.

It would be great to have Tim at the Rally. The more, the merrier.

Thanks! No problem about the GPS track; my GPS is pretty old and won't import tracks anyway. Plus, I'm a paper-map kind of guy...the GPS is only for telling me Where the hell am I right now?.

My plans have changed and it looks like I will be riding in on Friday morning (instead of Saturday), sometime before noon.
Anyone have a ride in mind for Friday?

Unless plans change, I should be there late Thursday afternoon. On Friday I'm considering a leisurely ride east along the north side of river (Rt. 60), maybe take in the place I mentioned earlier - Dr. Evermor's Forevertron - and some general wanderin' around. But I'm open to suggestions...
