10 yrs of 3x12 nights.  I gained 40lbs in the first 5yrs after taking this shift.  I've changed my eating habits and have lost most of that in the last three (but still need to lose that much more still).  If you've never done this shift before my only advice is to get off it asap!  Migraines, insomnia, what's not to like?   :good2:

With help from the FJ Guru in the Knee we finished the GSXR rear wheel mod on my 86,  I now have a fresh rear skin for the ride to to clinic next weekend  :yahoo:

There were a few hurdles that we needed to overcome...

  • Stripped sprocket bolts
  • Rim leak
  • Modification of the caliper stay arm
  • Improper installation of a oil seal

After an exhausting day Saturday we both were feeling the effects of the humidity and a few drinks  :drinks:

We decided to call it a day without quite finishing the job  :flag_of_truce:

This morning with fresh minds and bodies we were able to complete the task at hand with barely any time to spare,  I arrived at my mothers house for my mother's day brunch in a shirt covered in brake fluid and hands covered in grease, she still loved me anyways like any mother would  :yes:

I noticed a big difference in handling compared to the stock setup, much smoother in the turns.  We also went with a 43 tooth rear sprocket out of necessity which gave it noticeably more torque.

We are hoping to have the front end converted from the 16 inch to the 17 inch with a new skin on the front before we leave for the clinic next weekend.  I'm told I'll notice a even bigger difference in handling once this mod is done, can't wait!

Many thanks to my bud in the knee who with out I no doubt would have had many smashed kunckles, even less hair left on head, and less money in the bank from ordering wrong parts, cheers bud, couldn't have done it without you!  :i_am_so_happy:

We are going to head to the Viagara region via the US,  south of the lake,  if anyone wants to join in.   We will avoid the traffic of the GTA and probably stay off the big highways for a nice ride.

 What an awesome weekend for riding. A few of us went to PA for a Saturday Sunday  ride. Looking forward to seeing everyone next weekend in the Viagara Region. It will be swell.  :shok:

Looking forward to the clinic but have ran into a dilemma

Rear Rotor has hair line cracks in 2 places which are through to the other side as a result of enthusiastic riding and braking. Rear tire center thread is starting to get a little slick in a few spots. ( i am riding the bike but with caution in case the rotor decides to chunk off)
I have a brand new tire at home but am having no luck finding a rear rotor. ( no time to get it shipped from Randy @ RPM for the ride)
Our resident FJ guru as always has been very helpful in offering me parts but he is too far in the Knee

Any suggestions ? Shops in the area ?  (will be in London, On tomorrow 12th, if anyone knows of shops there)
I can always tow the bike to the area just to meet with you folks on the 16th.

Disregard this, Issue has been resolved


Upon closer inspection, i saw 3 cracks instead of two, very uniform and more like an expansion joint, since the 3 are exact same.
So with the help of our FJ guru who linked me with a shop through JV in Hamilton. The gentlemen at Ultimate Cycle confirmed these rotors as having expansion joints. Sorry for crying wolf, feeling a little dumb so to speak but in my defense i'm used to cross drilled ones not vented.

I have to say though, to anybody who does maps and routes. I am liking Google Maps and even Google's My Maps less and less. Routing gets psychotic quickly with a rat's nest of loops it inserts as I drag and click.
The "developers" kept playing with it long enough and sure as shootin' they broke it.
I had to draw that in the old regular Google Maps but I can't see a way to import it to my Gmail account linked My Maps, where I can create the KML file for my GPS on the bike.

Last time I checked you could still switch back to the old format.

Nope!  For the last few weeks when I try to switch to the "Classic" google maps it gives me the "lite" version. :-( 
The new version is better than the "lite", but not by much.
Wish they'd have left it alone.
