Yes. One was on one of my FJs, and I used them on another (cruiser application) bike I once owned. You'll get good mileage from them, but they're not too confidence inspiring in wet conditions. There are a number different (better, depending on who you listen to) offerings for tires...

I have tried/used these and found them to be good in all conditions:

Avon Roadriders

Pirelli Sport Demon

***** Be prepared for an onslaught of others who will be having you switch to a 17" GSXR rear wheel to get their favorite tire fitted to your bike.

I really like the Avon RoadRiders on my smaller bikes. I plan to remove the current Metzelors that slip in the corners, to try a set of RoadRiders later this summer.

big r

I have the Avon Azaro one my FJ and find them to be working out quite well. Can't say how good they are in the wet as I am a bit of a wimp and don't ride in the rain unless I have to. Big R

When I still had the stock 16" front and rear I ran on the Avon Azaros (AV45/46 combo) and really liked them. They may be the only radial in 16". A strong reason why I upgraded to 17". The Metzler ME880 will last many miles but at the cost of sport performance. So you need to chose based on your riding style. The Pirelli sport demons are a good choice and I know a few FJ riders that run them in the canyons.

Unfortunately, it appears that Avon has discontinued the Azaro's, and though they do show a new radial option for the rear 16" tire (Storm 3D X-M), they don't have a fitment for the front 16" wheel.  :negative:

Only $19 more than this Metz http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/6123/i/metzeler-lasertec-bias-sport-touring-rear-tire.

A good tire in its own right. Albeit a bias-ply.

Probably spring for another season's worth of Pirelli Sport Demons. Picked up a set for under $210 delivered last winter. Bias-ply. Doesn't matter to me. I'm no knee dragger anyways.

Wow! I get a set of Conti Motions for $190 delivered to my door. One more reason to be glad I switched to 17".

this is what I bought the Storm x-m 3D --- they are the next gen to the Azaro line -- suppose to have 20pct better tread life than the Azaro Storm 2's ---we'll see.

I have the 17 inch front tire ( 90 model year ) so if buying for a 86 front and needing a 16 inch front I don't believe the size is available -- and you will have to go with an Azaro Storm ( 1)---but they are phasing that one out and maybe limited to stock in hand.

BUT like the above post said  the 16 inch rear 150/80 is available in the new X-M version.
