Aluminum bar ends $1.00 a pair

Thought I'd share this in case anyone wanted to swap out ends cheaply. I was up at Iron Pony ( our local bike parts superstore here in Columbus Ohio) and I found these bar ends for a dollar a pair. I bought 3 sets just so I could switch colors if I wanted. NOTE: the ones that fit the R6 do NOT fit the F J.    I can give you a part number if you want to be sure. These are anodized aluminum

Although they look good, this is one place you don't want to cut weight on an FJ -- the weight directly contributes to the amount of vibration they absorb

+1   Less weight = more vibration.. Yamaha engineered those bar weights to dampen the FJ's vibrations.

Hmm live and learn I guess. On the brighter side of this mistake, at least I'm only out 3 bucks.  I put the original steel end on the scale and it weighed close to 14 ounces whereas the aluminum weighed 3 1/2 oz. pretty big difference I never considered. My originals had been pipe wrenched to death which is why I switched them. I turned them clean in the lath today so I'll re powder coat them and switch them back. I did notice a bit of itching in my right arm on that 50 mile run before my clutch started slipping. I've got so many trail hours on my DRZ 400 that I think I'm used to the vibration or something???
