Fred, I cannot imagine getting hit like this on a bike. I have been hit in a car a few times. Happy to hear you are well and still on this side of the grass. Keep us posted on your progress.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Here are some photos I took at the crash scene. I was hit hard enough to tear the trunk mounting plate off of the main luggage frame. Over all I escaped major damage to myself and the FJ. :yahoo: :dance2:

Next is to get a repair estimate and have a check written. :mail1:

Just think if you had not sold the 87, you would still have a spare.  :rofl2:  :rofl2:  :rofl2:

So glad you are still here to talk about this Fred. It could easily have gone a different way.
Cryin shame to see your FJ like that, you have put in a lot of effort getting it the way you like it.
Looks like you have a new project. Will you do anything different or keep it as it was?

Hi Fred,
Glad to hear you are ok....I fell off a few weeks ago...skinned knees and damaged pride...lucky.  Bike: Timing cover, rotor and clutch lever to be replaced.

Cause: watching too much MotoGP I think.

Fred,
Sorry to hear, but you're O.K., and the damage looks minimal.  :empathy:

That sucks Fred.  Glad that you're OK.  I was just pulling into work 10 minutes ago, at a complete stop, turing left, waiting for traffic to break and hoping the oncoming traffic behind me at 45mph was seeing my blinker and were not going pile into me ---then feeling that sense of relief when they casually veered around me. Then I read this.  Some things are almost beyond our control.

Again, glad you're OK.  It's a shame to see your bike laying on it's side too.

No worries about a spare. The trusty Silver Bullet is still operational. The FJ was on it's side for mayber 15 minutes, (first time on it's side since I have owned it). Picked it back up onto the tires and my baby fired right up without even a hiccup. Rode it over to the Churches Chicken parking lot to do the mandatory Police report. 30 minutes later the Silver Bullet carried me home. I have an estimate scheduled for tomorrow afternoon.

As an aside, a local (unnamed) personal injury attorney uses the following catchphrase: "For the people" and I vocally add "...'s money" every time I hear it!

Sorry about the accident Fred but I'm glad you are ok....sort of....soft tissue and/or back and neck injuries take time to show up...Steve's point is spot on.
The damage to your bike is obvious...that's easy to fix...but any latent damage to your vertebra can, and will, show up years from now.

Get checked out. Assume nothing.

That being said, I hate attorneys, but.......

The bike actually looks pretty good considering what hit you!

I'll be more diligent when I stop to always stay in 1st gear, and always watch my mirrors...
