Just curious... I bought my '91 back in Nov '91 and have loved riding it ever since. At about ~60k on it now and still going strong. But I also have a '00 Ducati 748 that I bought as the 3rd owner and have had a fantastic time 'resurrecting' it into a fun play toy. I think I learned as much (if not more) doing a 'resurrection' than as an original owner.
So... how many of you have "1 owner" FJs???
I bought mine (000303) in 1984.
Well I owwned the 2nd 86 FJ1200 sold in WI in 86. Owned it for 2 1/2 months. Before a friend of a friend laid his cb1100 down in a corner in front of me. @ some where around 135mph. Totalled it. Now I am resurrecting an 86 that I just got from my friend for $600 He bought it in 86 after he rode mine. It only has 10,452 miles on it. But it's been in storage for 10 years. So I'm kinda an original owner.
Bought my 86 new for about $5200.
Mike
Original (and current) owner of an '85. $4800 out the door.
I was smart enough to wait for them to work out the bugs from the first year model and perfect the awesome red and white paint scheme. :-)
It has about 40K on it.
I acquired a slightly used '93 in 2000. Only 6500 miles on it when I bought it and I'm the 4th owner. Pushing 30K on it now.

And it looks like you've been polishing a part every weekend since! Looks so nice!!!
Hey Austin,
I noticed that your ride map does not have Arkansas colored in. You need to check it out sometime. Really great roads up there and not that far away.
I'm headed that way in June.

Didn't go out of my way to miss it. Was more of a 'cross-country' mission at the time (CA to VA, then back). I'm sure the roads there are wonderful. Been to Tennessee for work (no motorcycle) and found that to be gorgeous as well. the biggest issue I have is my wife is from Australia and I need to take few months to ride around there as well! Beautiful country!! :yahoo:

I bought my 87 new 3/1987. Plenty of left over 86's but I liked the 87 paint scheme as well as the red, machined edge wheels better. Just purchased a mint 2000 RC-51 with 3,000 miles. Gas tank has been signed by Freddie Spencer, Nicky Hayden and Migual Duhamel. Just got to get it shipped up from Georgia.
I bought my first one in 1984 and wrote it off approx 4 weeks later when a cage driver ran a red light,i bought another through Insurance and still have it although i have not ridden it in quite a few years as i have a 2001 fatboy,08 1098s, and a BMW s1000rr,
Keep thinking what to do to the old girl, streetfighter maybe
Bought my 92 new in April of 1993 using insurance money from my stolen Seca II. On my way home from the insurance company with the check, stopped by the local Yamaha dealership and it was parked near the front door. I left a deposit that day and picked it up two days later.

They are fun with about 150HP.
Brought home my '87 on March 15th, 1987. 25 years later, with 73,000 miles on her, she still runs strong.
Bought my '90 FJ new in '93. It had the white and gray color scheme back then. It has since become black/blue after I had to replace the gas tank after it collapsed.

doesn't count
I'm not the original owner of mine, but for me it's "close enough."
I had been riding motorcycles with John The Beer Scientist all through college. We went to hang out at his dad's house one evening, and his dad had a pair of brand-new 1984 FJ's in the garage, a 600 and an 1100. I sat on the FJ1100 and thought to myself basically the exact thing Will Smith eventually said a dozen years later in "Independence Day" when he tries out the alien space ship:
"I have GOT to get me one of THESE!"
In 1990 with a "real job" after college, I finally had money for a brand-new vehicle. I bought a brand-new 1989 FJ1200 (dark blue, VIN ending in 001241) that summer and rode it 9,000 miles in the year I had it, before it got stolen in August 1991. (One of the suckiest birthdays ever.)
I was complaining about my misfortune to a bunch fo friends, and John's sister told me "my dad got an '89 last year and he's selling it, why don't you buy his?" It had 1,600 miles on it and was clean as a whistle. I bought it that fall and have been riding it ever since.
It will turn 99,000 miles on the way to Boone later this month, and possibly 100,000 on the way home. I'm no Lee Clarkenord, but I do my best.

Mike...what if I have a certificate from the original owner releasing him of that prize due to his lack of ridership in the first year of said purchase....in that certificate it would also state that the original owner recognizes myself as the true original owner and he was just testing it out for me during said time period.
I think we need a ruling on

I think we need a ruling from the other original owners .
Oh , Pat whachathink?
600 miles is nothing.... I've seen new dealer demo bikes with more mileage.
The 1st owner, was not really a owner, even 'thou he might have been on paper but......
Steve is the original owner in my book. I say let him in..... :hi:
600 is close enough, give him a pass. I had 600 on mine in about a week.
I bought my '86 new in August of that year. Up to that point I had purchased a new bike every 3 years, getting bigger and better each time. It has 64K on it now; I put 20k on it in the first 2 years, then I got married...
I've ridden it continuously since except for a year when all I did was remodel the house and recently due to a neck injury which is getting better. I am putting the RPM spin-on oil filter on tomorrow; other than that and a headlight relay it still '86 stock. I'm looking forward to putting more miles on it this summer.
i bought my 85 in march of 85,i was young and used to go visit it every morning at the dealership before i got it.i put 9000 miles on it for about the first 12 years.when that bike was new it was the quickest, fastest, most quality bike made.if you had that bike then, you were the man!my bike sat for many years but with the help of this forum its almost back on the road, cant wait to relive my youth!!
I bought my 93 in August 94 new in box. Worked in the dealership back then. Good times!! :smile
