Brought home my '87 on March 15th, 1987.  25 years later, with 73,000 miles on her, she still runs strong.

Bought my '90 FJ new in '93. It had the white and gray color scheme back then. It has since become black/blue after I had to replace the gas tank after it collapsed.

I'm not the original owner of mine, but for me it's "close enough."

I had been riding motorcycles with John The Beer Scientist all through college.  We went to hang out at his dad's house one evening, and his dad had a pair of brand-new 1984 FJ's in the garage, a 600 and an 1100.  I sat on the FJ1100 and thought to myself basically the exact thing Will Smith eventually said a dozen years later in "Independence Day" when he tries out the alien space ship:

"I have GOT to get me one of THESE!"

In 1990 with a "real job" after college, I finally had money for a brand-new vehicle.  I bought a brand-new 1989 FJ1200 (dark blue, VIN ending in 001241) that summer and rode it 9,000 miles in the year I had it, before it got stolen in August 1991.  (One of the suckiest birthdays ever.)

I was complaining about my misfortune to a bunch fo friends, and John's sister told me "my dad got an '89 last year and he's selling it, why don't you buy his?"  It had 1,600 miles on it and was clean as a whistle.  I bought it that fall and have been riding it ever since.

It will turn 99,000 miles on the way to Boone later this month, and possibly 100,000 on the way home.  I'm no Lee Clarkenord, but I do my best.

Mike...what if I have a certificate from the original owner releasing him of that prize due to his lack of ridership in the first year of said purchase....in that certificate it would also state that the original owner recognizes myself as the true original owner and he was just testing it out for me during said time period.

600 miles is nothing.... I've seen new dealer demo bikes with more mileage.
The 1st owner, was not really a owner, even 'thou he might have been on paper but......

Steve is the original owner in my book.  I say let him in..... :hi:

600 is close enough, give him a pass.  I had 600 on mine in about a week.

I bought my '86 new in August of that year.  Up to that point I had purchased a new bike every 3 years, getting bigger and better each time.  It has 64K on it now; I put 20k on it in the first 2 years, then I got married...

I've ridden it continuously since except for a year when all I did was remodel the house and recently due to a neck injury which is getting better.  I am putting the RPM spin-on oil filter on tomorrow; other than that and a headlight relay it still '86 stock.  I'm looking forward to putting more miles on it this summer.
