1985 fuel-gage bouncing

Hi all,
My 1985 is developing a fuel-gage bouncing, and I am looking for the possible cause. When filling the tank the gage is steady until it drops a bit, and then it starts bouncing very strong (about 1/2 of the gage's range). When I stop to rest, and start again, the bouncing stops. Any leads on what may be the problem?

Besides, the gage is very inaccurate. Is there a way to calibrate or make any adjustments?

Thanks,

Eyal
