The Borkus

Hey all-- i am a new guy to the site. I just bought my First FJ 1200! I got her for 1500$ from a guy who rescued it from a slow death rotting away in the back of a shed under dust and boxes of forgotten crap. He cleaned it up rebuilt the carbs flushed out the fuel tank, new petcock, adjusted valves,  and new tires. The bike runs great looks awesome with some wear here and there but i do too hahaha she has 32k miles and I am giddy every time I light her up with the Yosh slip-ons.
I tell you the minute I got on It was like coming home.
I had a 1984 FJ 1100 back in the day. She was a left-over at the bike shop that had been canniblized  for parts. I rounded up what it needed and found a upper fairing for it and got a paint job all white with factory decals boy people used be baffled by that bike thinking it was a new design scheme from Yamaha. Anyway it was a great bike had a Kerker White Tip exhaust sounded great and the Metzlers stuck to the road.  My wife and I road that bike everywhere.
I was envious of the guys with the new 1200's. eventually divorce forced the sale of her. Now some what-- 30 years? Later I got one. I had an R1 but it got to the point where I couldn't ride it for more than 30 minutes and my body wanted off. So I sold it. I was looking at FZ 8's and stumbled across the ad for this FJ I couldn't resist I had to have it. So theres my story. I'm back in the saddle.
Looking forward to the forum and being connected to others whom share the same love for FJ's.

Great story and welcome.back to the FJ fold.  :good2: This is a wonderful site and the people are great. This site has about everything you need to know about an FJ ! The members here are from around the world. Post some pictures as you get a chance. Don't worry about the condition, most if not everyone here are "riders" not show bike owners. . A lucky few have owned there FJ's since new and the depth of knowledge is hard to believe.

What part of the country are you located ? What year is your FJ ?

Check out the "rally" section. Each year there are rallies around the world and highly recommended. Next year will be the 30Th anniversary of the FJ's so it will be a little special.

As for parts one of our better suppliers is RPM http://www.rpmracingca.com/products.asp?cat=39. Randy a RPM is a member here and rider. Lots of modifications you can make to the FJ for performace and safety. The Files section has a lot of information also.
