Hi Guys, (new to this great site) Im in the UK a ride a FJ1200 1989

Ive have recently bought back my 1989 FJ1200 (stupidly sold it to a friend, he had it for 2 yrs, while I rode Hayabusa) I now have both in the garage. I took it out a run last night, it handles seems to handle better that the Hayabusa  (or was that just sentamental) but during the run I had a loss of power, only 1second, but i have now lost the indicators / Fuel Gauge / Rev Gauge / Neutral Light

Any idea's ??

Cheers Dave

Good morning !

Start off with the simple stuff:
Battery condition - clean the terminals - check the fuses - clean/inspect the ground cable where it bolts to the engine  - Stop/Run switch for corrosion - check the interlocks (side stand switch for pinched wiring etc. ) - check the wiring plugs/connectors (loose or corrosion).

Have faith, it is probably a simple fix  :good2:

If all that fails give us some more indicators, will it crank/turn over ?

That's where I would start.

Firstly it's 3:30 in the afternoon in Sunny Cornwall UK.. but good morning to you..

Thanks for reply i will go through list tonight after work, I have also download manual from Rapid Share.com ( i saw it on one of your earlier posts) having looked at wiring diagram, i will also look for Fuse "Signal" (15A) number 33 which I would hope is somewhere easy to locate.

Yes it does turn over, managed to carry on with trip out and it started first time after being stopped for couple hours.

The intention was to give bike a complete restoration (should never have sold it in first place, glad its now back where it belongs, never to be sold again) while still riding the Hayabusa, but an idiot in a van reversed in to Suzuki so now thats getting a make-over while FJ is bike for the summer, much to the agreement of the girlfriend who prefers pillion on the FJ.

Thanks again, will let you know how I get on.

Sounds like a loose connection or corrosion. You will get here back into shape I am sure. If you dropped a fuse then it would be dead in the water so to speak.
Do a good inspection and look see.  I am sure it is something simple.

It's 7:45  AM here  :morning2: :morning2:  I am finishing coffee and you are thinking about a  :drinks:...
