Ducati Mufflers

Scored a set of Ducati Monster mufflers real cheap. They did not have mounting brackets but take bolt-on brackets.  Looked like the location for the brackets was good for mounting on the FJ so I snatched them up.  Whipped up a 1/4" aluminum spacer and 1/8" aluminum bracket, picked up some stainless steel hardware, hung them on, and found all that was needed was a 6" mid pipe.  Used 1-3/4" flex pipe to see how things fit.  Made a bushing from a copper pipe fitting from the local ACE hardware for the muffler inlet as it was about 2mm smaller on the OD than the collector outlet.

Had the FJ apart for fork seals when I put them on. After the front end was back together I fastened the headlight, tank and seat on and took it for a short spin.  They don't sound as "cool" as they look (IMO) but sound better than stock.

Wasn't going to post anything until I had everything back on the bike, but as fate would have it, developed a stuck float in one carb after syncing. Looks like it will remain naked for a while longer.

Interesting note - I searched the part number on the mufflers to see which year/model Monster they came from.  Found out they are from a 1999 M900 and the price for new is $893 each.  Counting the SS hardware, flex pipe and clamps I'm into them for about $40.  That will go up a little when I fit permanent mid pipesbut will still be a bargain.

Thanks fellers.  I noticed my wife left a can of Bud Lite on the lift - hope that doesn't offend anyone here. :sarcastic:  Fred, I used your idea for the LED cluster lights while I had everything exposed. Like you, I went with the red. Haven't had it out at night yet but pleased with the daytime look. Thanks for posting that.
