Ignition live wire

Sorry for all this question bombarding, it's just that I'm heading into a lot of uncharted territory right now...

I'm installing a Scorpio alarm, which includes splicing into turn signal wires, ignition/engine control wire (probably the ground wire from the igniter unit) and the tail light wire.
I'm guessing the tail light wire is for sensing when the ignition is turned on. It's just that my European bike has a lighting switch, which cuts off the power to the lights, including the tail light, when on "off".

I'm tracing some wires on my diagram that become live when the main switch is turned on, but cannot make up my mind on which ones are suitable.

Do you know of any wires that would be suitable for this purpose?

I've read about a mystery green contact somewhere, but haven't been able to find it...

Cheers,
Nat

There is a flat green female plug on the right side coming out of the main wiring harness, forward of the battery.  Cannot recall if it is on the 1100s.

Okay, I still can't seem to find it...  :unknown:

I have a European bike, so if it is a California emission thingy, we mightn't have it I guess...

yea that is an emissions plug for California..... I would just trace a wire coming from the ignition and make sure it is not going to any lights....don't know if I would want to plug in to anything that has to do with ignition or charging, which I think is all you have left? I would just get rid of the light switch, but that's just me :morning2:

Find a brown wire.  Those are live when ignition is turned ON.
The green wire is for some anti-pollution thing and wasn't on all years or markets FJs.

just to clarify I meant the ignition as in what ignites the gasoline...not the ignition switch
