How on earth do you get the crankcase breather hose back on the airbox?????

I'm putting my carbs back on and trying to get the airbox back down in there.
There is absolutely no room to reach in there and reattach the crankcae breather hose to the airbox.
Anyone have any tricks for that?

Don't know, ditched the air box for UNI pods, I could not get that fitting back on either...
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

,Pays to have small hands  , when I still had the air box, I tilted it up on An angle at the front,  fitted the breather to the air box, and carefully fitted the box to carbs  :wacko2:
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it

I can't see how on earth you did that. There is absolutely no room to get hands in there.

Unless your hands are this small, I don't see how you did it.

I could not get the bugger back in either, so I stuffed a bolt in the hole, used a hose clamp to secure it and put a small breather on the crankcase breather outlet.

Much easier.

good luck

I wonder if I could get a longer length of hose that I could attach to the airebox before I force the airbox down into position...
Or use mr Blackstock's idea.

You have tipped the subframe back to give you a bit of room, haven't you?
If not, remove the 2 17mm head bolts next to the battery and push down on  the back of the subframe.

ken65

the 1st time i did it ,it took an hour, the 2nd time  a couple of minutes. i just manouvered the 90degree bend in front of the rubber grommet and when it was up against it i stabbed it with a screw driver to get it started and forced it in with another screw driver behind it, although to be honest i think i lucked out the 2nd time.

Do you mean where the black tubing bolts to the silver frame under the airbox? I don't see any 17mm bolts next to the battery.  the ones I'm talking about look like they may be 14mm bolts.

Arnie

No, the ones that connect the upper horizontal part of the subframe to the mainframe.  They're above and a bit forward of the ones you noted.

Got it...
I used ken65's idea, pulled the elbow off the airbox and attached it to the breather hose. then put the airbox on the carbs making sure the elbow was centered near the hole. Then used 2 flat head screwdrivers to maneuver the elbow and finally got it popped into the grommet. With a daughter holding a flashlight so I could see what I was doing... There's not an emoticon that pictures how frustrating it was...
Thanks for the help guys!
