Hello, for some reason on my 85FJ, the left flashers wont work. I can hear the flasher relay rapidly clicking away, along with the left dash light flashing rapidly also?  Left signal lights dont come on and they test good. Right side works fine.Im not home now, is it simply the relay unit as it was working fine before.
Are the flasher relays same for all years of FJ?
PS- this is happening with the original bulbs . no LEDs.

Tony - my guess is you have a short in the left side turn signal wiring.  Is the running light on the left working? 

I'd start by opening up the left front turn signal lens and checking the socket.  Try a new bulb as well in case it is the short.  Do the same on the rear.  If you find anything marginal, do the right side too or you'll see it fail soon most likely.

If it isn't in the bulb or socket, try the connections close to the socket and look for any damage in the wires...  especially under the seat where the left rear side wire is routed.  If it all checks out, then replace the relay.

Mine did exactly the same thing the other day, the dash light wasn't working either. Tried a new bulb in the front, no difference. Tried it in the back and it starts flashing.

Checked the old bulb and found it wasn't blown, but it had a white coating on the metal part stopping it from earthing. A clean up with fine sandpaper soon had it working again.

More likely an open.... I had the ground wire on the right TS ass'y break a few years ago, about a 1/2" inside the insulation. ended up replacing the ass'y. The thing flashed, but faster than normal, because it was finding a path to ground thru the other filament...

Need to coat it with dielectric grease, that'll stop the corrosion.  Every time I disconnect an electrical device, I squirt some in before I reconnect them.

More likely an open....

Could be either based on circuit design.  I also had the corroded socket issue that made it blink more quickly, so an open it is!

Same procedure, but look for an open.
