Clattering from generator at low RPM, advice wanted.

Much joy is being had from riding and modifying/repairing my fj but season being as short as it is here I'm primarily focusing on safety and reliance and saving the big haul for winter. So noises from the engine and other parts is something I try to remedy before I'm stranded or worse.

I've had clatter at low rpm and initial takeoffs since I got the bike and adjusting the drivechain did not alleviate it so I've kept an ear out and found that the generator sometimes makes a metallic whine so I greased it up and it lessened but the clatter still remains.

The generator operates normally and gives good charging voltage with the external regulator mod installed.

This thread seemed to describe the issue and put my mind somewhat at ease since it's reported to be a noise that is not harmful:

I'll take the generator apart and look over the measurements and checking oil seals and bearings when I put it away for the winter but I just wanted to be sure that it can wait until winter storage.

Also if someone knows the bearing dimensions for the 85 1100 generator bearing or a part number for the oil seal and/or bearing that would be helpful as that is something that is not specified in the service manual I have and having it on hand when disassembling will be helpful. Part sourcing is a PITA here so I try to stay ahead of what I might need so I don't get ruined on OEM parts shipped from far aways.

Rattling noises are normal, especially at idle. The clutch rattles, the cams move side-to-side and rattle, the starter chain rattles, and I'm forgetting one.....  I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks, I'll let her rattle and roll then and just proceed with the repairs and fixes as I get the time and $.
