Nelson-Rigg Stormrider rainsuit - goofy sizing

I ordered this suit form eBay, where it was only $25. The suit is a pretty good PVC/nylon  one, with Velcro on sleeves and storm flap, velvet-lined collar and pockets that at least look like they should be waterproof.

I pored over the sizing chart on the N-R website, which, to my surprise, showed a Medium as being something that fits.

That turned out complete baloney. The jacket fit me like a dress shirt and the pants I couldn't even put on. I'm a size 38 waist. The Medium pants don't even come close to stretching to 46" like the chart claims.

I'll be keeping the suit, since it turned out to fit my wife pretty much exactly. Myself, I probably will order an XL. It's still a decent suit.
