Hi guys,
Anyone know what size inlet on an 89 I'd be looking at for on an aftermarket slip on exhaust? Looking at fitting some stubby cans  :good2:
Thanks

Tom
If in doubt go flat out

fj11.5

If it wasn't so icey id go measure, but I think its 50mm,, are you running a standard 4/2 system or something else,  on a standard system you will also need an extension joiner type piece to go from the collector,, if you have a 4/1 better check it yourself as they can range from 1 3/4" 2" or like mine 2.5"
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it

84 Fj1100  effie , with mods
( 88 ) Fj 1200  fairly standard , + blue spots
84 Fj1100 absolutely stock standard, now more stock , fitted with Fj12 twin system , no rusted headers for this felicity jayne

Cheers mate. I'm running 4 - 2 I'll have to check it myself if they vary. Just haven't got the time at the moment.

Thanks

Tom, before you spend your money, look into just how loud the stubbies are when you wind it up.

I've got these (as have many others here) with the baffles out, at full throttle in the top half of the tacho they are about as loud as you'd want to live with every day. Loud enough to keep me off the throttle around town for two reasons, one, not attracting too much attention and, two, it hurts my ears without ear plugs.

Those stubbies are LOUD.

Hi Noel,
Great pic! Have you got anymore of your bike? Those stubbys are great! Where did you purchase then from? Not fussed about the noise as I was running my sp1 with out baffles and my gsxr 750. I always ear plugs regardless.

Thanks a lot  :good:

Sorry, I just realised the ambiguity of my post.

Those ARE NOT the stubbies on my bike!
The stubbies are much shorter and MUCH louder. The noise levels I was referring to are on my bike which has the 450mm(?) oval "DELKEVIC" slip ons.

Their ad even says the stubbies are not suitable for road use.

I like my bike loud, which is why I have the baffles out. It took a while for them to find their voice, but I love the sound.

I don't wear ear plugs around town. My ears are an extra set of eyes in traffic. Even heading off on a trip I don't put them in until I reach the city limits and do the reverse coming back.

Do I have anymore pictures of my bike? Yes, about 10,000 of them. I have them by season, time of day, terrain, racetrack, bush bashing, dirty, clean, angle, detail, artistic, mechanical, reference, component, dismantled, lighting effect, action, location, occasion.............

My wife thinks I have change the 'face recognition' on the camera to 'FJ recognition'

Haha they looked a bit longer than my idea of a stubby but nothing a bit of chopping wouldn't sort. Have you got a pic of your stubbys?

HARTLESS

:sarcastic: I don't know if i want to see any stubbies......
But on second thought I do! I am thinking of putting some on mine. Found some r1 cans from an 08 for $50. Might try them

Those are really big!

What's that rear caliper bracket you have on there?  FZR wheel yes?

They're not THAT big.

This is big.

That is a '94-96 FZR600R wheel and caliper.

Have you done a thread on that brake and wheel mod?

The only contribution I can make to that mod is, find a wrecker selling an FJ rear wheel that you recognise from the photo as being a 17" and do a deal with him for the lot. It came all bolted up with brakes and M/C, didn't even have to bleed it. Just changed swing arms over. $180 AND a brand new PR2. Sometimes you just get lucky.

so basically, someone else did the mod, the bike went to the breaker and he didn't know it wasn't standard and he could charge a premium for it?  Any pix?

Yep, it was on ebay and he had a photo of the complete bike but was selling the parts individually. I asked about the condition of tyre as I was going on a trip that weekend and was cutting it fine for time. He said if it was no good he'd find another wheel, he had a few FJ's around. I said I wanted THAT one. It turned up by courier the following afternoon, he had just pulled the swing arm bolt and sent the lot. I couldn't believe it when I opened the packaging and saw the barely scrubbed in PR2 which at the time cost about $300 here.

What exactly do you want pics of? The spacers either side look standard but I have never measured them. To the eye it would appear to bolt straight in.
I'm sure someone here has tried it and will know what, if anything, needs doing. I've had 4 or 5 different brand 180 tyres on it and no clearance problems.
