HARTLESS

Hit me two days ago.... Not too bad but still scared the s*** out of me. The one time I was glad it was wet! I was in the middle left hand turn lane and the f250 was on the far left turn lane where he had to turn left. Well he didn't. Luckily I saw the front end of his truck coming straight at me and I was able to get out of my lean(coming off the free way, had a little speed 30mph or so. It's also a wide turn) and avoid going under his truck. He struck me on the rear passenger side of his rig( he swerved right! Which was toward me!) my left bar end caught his fender causing the rear of my bike to slide almost *90 to the left and the rear of my bike bounced off the back of his truck and I was then able to recover and straighten it out without going down..... One of the luckiest days ever! He said he didn't even know he had hit me until he looked back and realized he was suppose to turn in that lane and saw me sideways in the intersection. He is a truck driver by profession......
Surprisingly all it did was put a small scratch on the bar end and front signal lense, and bent the clutch lever up. The Yamaha shop also said the forks are a little twisted but just need to be loosened up and re aligned. I got really really lucky....put a nice big and long dent/scratches on the whole rear right corner panel of his rig though! :yahoo: I can't help but think that someone was watching over me.
Here's a little kicker, it was the same intersection I wrecked my 550 vision less than two years ago.....

Nice outcome of a very bad situation. Glad that you and your bike came out of this pretty much un-scathed. Your shorts may need to be retired.

you are so lucky, glad it turned out ok for you. you can always get a new bike.

similar thing happened to my high school buddy but he got hooked on the bumper and dragged for a bit.

lots of stitches and a cast . scared him so bad he quit riding.

I was able however, to get a great deal on his 79 xs400s that was only a year old. :biggrin:

You had a vision? What happened to it? We've got one in the shop right now... Guy thought it just needed carb work, turns out there's no compression on the front cylinder. Parts are impossible to come by for rebuild. Bought a spare engine from a junkyard. Also no compression on front cylinder. Seems like they had a design flaw and wouldn't oil the front cylinder well enough or something.

Cosmetically it's in very good shape, though, and they just finally got it running after all that time.

Not everyone understands what a completely rational process this maintenance of a motorcycle is. They think it's some kind of a knack or some kind of affinity for machines in operation. They are right, but the knack is almost purely a process of reason.

Have a co-worker that has been in three accidents in the last 15 years. None of them have been his fault and all of them have been in the same intersection. He slows down a lot at that intersection when he has to take it, but avoids it as much as he can...

OK, number 1, stay away from that intersection. You have been warned twice now  :good2: :good2:
Number 2, glad you are OK and things turned out well
Number 3, I don't care what lane, red light, green light, 4 way stop, stop sign etc.. Expect and be prepared for drivers to do anything. To them you are invisible. You have to think tactically all the time.
Number 4, I was glad to read your post and not hear a rant about "cagers". Its a waste of time ranting about them. Shit happens on the road and we as motorcyclist usually don't stand a chance against them... When on the road I take the stance that everyone out there wants to kill me (hopefully unintentionally) and I try to take any and all steps possable not to be there victim.

Nope...I've bought, rebuilt and sold 22 Vision's over the last 4 - 5 years...and I carry more spares than anyone I know here in Ontario!! They are a great wee bike, however, I sold mine shortly after getting my FJ as I needed something with more 'grunt' for two up touring...but I had a blast with it for 7 - 8 years :good2:
