Does anyone know the paint color code for the dark metallic blue that is standard on the 1990 FJ1200?

ColorRite does not have a listing.

Thanks,

Jeff

Hey Jeff, check out the Files section.
Look under the Miscellaneous FJ files. That's all the paint code info we have been able to collect.
Paint codes were important decades ago, but today they are really moot.
Most quality paint shops have color analyzing equipment which can replicate your color dead nuts.

Cheers. Pat

Not everyone understands what a completely rational process this maintenance of a motorcycle is. They think it's some kind of a knack or some kind of affinity for machines in operation. They are right, but the knack is almost purely a process of reason.

Thanks Pat, I'll check it out.

Another question. I think the fuel pump on my 90 FJ1200 with 55,000 miles on it may need replacing. I've read this is a common problem. The Yamaha factory pump is $450, but there are alternatives and even rebuild kits. Do you know about this?

Thanks,
Jeff

Do some research on the fuel pump.... RPM has a rebuild kit for the points in the pump and there are other LOT cheaper pumps to use. It is just a very low pressure 12 volt fuel pump. Might check out a Federal pump 40104 or 40105. Or Fuel Flow 0151 ?
40104    1.5- 3.5 PSI
40105    2.5-4.5  PSI
I haven't looked at any of these pumps personally. If you look at them then pay attension to the inlet/outlet, mounting and electrical plug as they might require some modification. It is just information I have stumbled across along the way. IMO I would in no way buy a new Yamaha pump from a dealer unless it was the last place on earth that had one. And I would be pissed !

If on "Flea bay" all the following pumps would probably adapt on or at least be worth looking at:
2001-2005 Yamaha FZS1000 FZ1
1998-2003 Honda VT750C/CD Shadow ACE
1994-2003 Kawasaki ZX900 Ninja ZX-9R
1991-2002 Kawasaki ZX750 Ninja ZX-7R
1999-2002 Yamaha YZF-R6
1993-2001 Kawasaki ZX600 Ninja ZX-6
1995-2001 Kawasaki ZX600 Ninja ZX-6R
1998-2001 Yamaha YZF-R1
1996-1999 Kawasaki VN1500E Vulcan 1500 Classic
1999 Kawasaki VN1500G Vulcan 1500 Nomad
1995-1998 Honda CBR600F F3
1988-1998 Honda VT600C Shadow VLX
1992-1995 Honda CBR900RR

George,
Thanks for the great info. I ordered a points kit to see if that does the trick.
I feel ya about buying from Yamaha. It's a last resort.
