Caught the bug

Bought my 89 FJ new in 91 as a factory hold over.  Never did much to her until this past few months.

After overhauling the carbs (I hate ethanol in my gas) I moved on to the RPM spin on oil filter mod, RPM Fork brace, vibranators, carb sync, and CBR600RR mirrors.  The old girl is running well now and nice to be back on the road.

Doing lots of studying of the forum and already planning/studying future mods.  Considering: Rear wheel and all brakes, brake hoses, horn, etc..

As I have read elsewhere.......modifications can get addicting, once you catch the bug.

Thanks all for a fabulous resource,

Regards,
Bill

Welcome mate,, another original owner, getting a few now  :good2:

84 Fj1100  effie , with mods
( 88 ) Fj 1200  fairly standard , + blue spots
84 Fj1100 absolutely stock standard, now more stock , fitted with Fj12 twin system , no rusted headers for this felicity jayne

Welcome ! And it seems to be addicting alright. I resisted modding for a few years then I "slipped"..... :dash2:   Now that better weather is arriving I see some hope in the transition from modifying to riding. I have concluded that sunshine is the cure......

I'll admit it, I tried to resist! I tipped toed around trying to be careful not to catch it. I tend to be more of a original type of person, keep it to its roots. However the bug set in. After spin on oil filter, forks, rear wheel & brake, front wheel & blue spots, canister air filters, F4 shock. I can honestly say Kookaloo! Moditis isn't a bad thing to catch. Do the research, jump in and enjoy the ride.

Welcome Bill. Sorry to hear that you caught the bug (not really). Once you get done with one thing more just keep coming up. These FJ's keep getting better. Great bike with some shortcomings, now these are some of it's strong suites after mods. The mods you are thinking about really make big improvements.

Could you post a photo of those mirrors along with the year and part number if handy?

Apparently I do not have the ability to post photos into the forum.  Sorry.

The Mirrors are aftermarket Emgo mirrors for a 2006 CBR600RR. They cost $20 per mirror. I Had to do some minor machine work (elongate mirror mounting holes) to mirror mounting bracket of new mirrors.  Original FJ rubber covers for mirror bracket mounts do not fit perfectly.

Does this help?
