Hey guys, sorry for the commercial but I owe some people a response to carb kit requests.

To anyone that has requested a carb kit in the last few months, sorry that I've blown you off.  I ran low on hardware, had an email crash that wiped out most of my records, and, frankly, I was kind of occupied with other things.

I've just ordered a re-supply of hardware and should have time in the next few weeks to put some kits together.

So, If you still want a kit, please send your address to d-raforth (at) raytheon (dot) com.  Looks like the price of the hardware has gone up again, but I'm too lazy to recalculate everything so I'll just keep the delivered price at $15 (Canada may be a few cents higher) for now.

My apologies for being rude if I've ignored your request in the past.

Thanks,
David Raforth

David,

It might be helpful to remind us what's in your kits... ;)

Good point Steve.

The kit contains :
Stainless steel allen head bolts to replace every phillips head screw in the 4-carb assembly.
This includes:
16 Diaphragm Cap bolts,
16 Float Bowl bolts with 16 lockwashers,
8 Upper + 8 Lower Alignment Bracket bolts,
4 Needle Seat Retainer bolts,
8 Slide Needle Retainer bolts with 8 lockwashers (this is the plate that holds the needle in place in the slide/diaphragm),
4 set screws that hold the Choke Plunger Pawls onto the Choke Rod,
O-Rings:
4 Needle Seat Assembly o-rings,
6 Fuel Inlet and Fuel Transfer Tube o-rings,
4 Idle Mixture Screw o-rings,
4 nylon caps that cover the Idle Mixture Screws (helps keep debris out of the threads)

That's all I can remember at this time; 106 pieces total.

I don't think there's much need for you to apologize, you've got a better excuse than most David.  Anyway you look at it, you're a stand-up guy.  You do this for little or even, from what it sounds like, negative profit, (don't worry though, you can always make up for that with volume!)

Anyone getting your kit, as I did, lo those many years ago, should be NOTHING but thankful for your most selfless help.

You have to have sent out 100's, possibly 1000's of these.

Let me just say it, cause it does not get said enough: Thanks for your help David.

My carbs would be long dead if not for David's help (he actually touched my carbs!!!) and his kit.

Thank you.  :good:

I will say it too...Thanks David.
When I acquired my FJ 4 years ago, and heard about these kits, I could not believe the cost and the quality of them. Along with his instructions for disassembling/cleaning/rebuilding the FJ carbs I rebuilt my first set of carbs. Now it is a piece of cake to open them up and clean or adjust things. Speaking of which, it is time to open them up again. I suspect dirt/rust cloggage again. Gotta get me a cleaner tank.
Thanks again David.. :good2:

Cheers.. :drinks:

Thanks David!  Your kit has proved invaluable, plus your detailed data of how to clan & troubleshoot the FJ carbs is a lifesaver.  And I just loved removing all those butter soft screws to install shiny stainless steel!

Count me in as well. Cheap crap that original hardware. Only good thing about it is that it is almost impossible to strip any of the threads in the carbs. But then drilling out them stupid soft rounded out Philips heads has its risk too.

David,

It might be helpful to remind us what's in your kits... ;)

There is a list and pic of all the content of these superb kits; its in the Carbs section.  Also contained there are David's (the carb guru) detailed instructions on how to disassemble, clean, and reassemble (Dean, need to read this part) your carbs.  There is also some troubleshooting advice.

You won't find better hardware or advice - anywhere.
