Hi, new member!

Nice to be here. Have had a 3cv for a few years and have restored it completely. However, with racing pistons and racing valve springs. It is definitely a runner! Looking for a new rear shock though.  Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks. Eric

 :hi: welcome aboard enjoy ask lots of questions plenty of answers here, a new shock mmmmm well if the reports are right and the shock is as good as they say and knowing the work Randy has put into it it must be I'd be buying one from RPM racing when he releases them, which hopefully should be very soon :biggrin:.
Randy supplies a lot of bits and pieces for the FJ, you should find the reports on the new shock he's had developed for the FJ have a look at his web site its delightful.

Welcome Eric, this group is a little nuts but that suits most of us just fine. We have an amazing amount of FJ knowledge and all of it is free. Use the search function first, then post questions. For parts and other FJ goodies check out Randy's site www.rpmracingca.com he has custom FJ parts and is a Yamaha and Renntec dealer. Even with shipping his prices are better than any sources that I have found. Enjoy the insanity and welcome to the Kookaloo zone.

Not sure if I had purchased anything from RPM while doing the rebuild or not, but did buy many things from the UK. Quite a following over there for the FJ!  I think it is the same in Australia, though shipping from there is not good; way too high for my wallet.  Even with the cost of shipping, some things were cheaper from the UK.  WEBEMOTO was one good supplier and there are many others.  Also put on a full lower fairing, but I would not recommend it for the hotter climates.  The lower pushes a lot of heat across your feet, which is fine for the Winter.

BTW, thank you for the responses; it is nice to know that there is an active group of people here!

Welcome Eric, you are barking up the right tree...The rear shock was the single most improvement I have done to my FJ's. That's why it is #1 on my list of recommended mods. It really made a difference.
Also, read about the rave reviews on RPM's fork valves....something to consider.

Although, beware of moditis.... It is cunning, baffling and powerful....and you have been warned.

Never tested it!  But there is absolutely no coconuts in Washington State; lots of nuts, but no coconuts!

A jet black scheme was never offered, but should have been.

Neat & Sweet.  :hi: Welcome Professor. The straight line you have in hand. Randy`s shock will give you more confidence in the corners me thinks. Is the rear shock visually cactus or is there a feel you`re not happy with.

That's beautiful FJ you have there Professor. Welcome to the site.  :drinks:

If you are interested, other than the shock, the mods I would grace that beauty with are the blue spot brake calipers and FZ1 14mm master. Next on the list would be the 17" rear wheel upgrade. Then, just for fun would be the forks. This would be the new RPM fork valves, springs and a brace.

I love the FJ more than any other motorcycle I have ever owned. Upgrading the bike has made it that much better.

Welcome and thank you for the insight. I am hoping maybe you and I can get together so I can compare some of the items for bought internationally compared to what I have to offer. I normally here the opposite and my online business is close to 50% international because of my lower prices.

In regard to the rear shock, I do have a unit that is going into production shortly. All of the testing has been completed and I spent over an hour on the phone today with the manufacture crossing the "T"'s and dotting the "i'"s.

They are hoping to get back to me in the next few days with the final numbers and the spring rates needed for the new shock.

I also offer a state of the art fork valve that makes all of the other valves comparable to the old style friction shocks and here is some reading on those as well;
