hayabusa swingarm swap

anyone had a go at this mod? i can get a complete rear end from a busa which i`m thinking of fitting to my blunderbus. just thinking at the moment, research don`t ya know

Nope but I have got the exact same seed dropper as in your avatar, thanks for the grit related inspiration I now have no excuse not to go out in the white stuff!

the beauty of being a modifier is that you are free to explore any and all options.....Especially the bird in hand type options.

2001- i was looking for (unsuccessfully) YZF600 parts (a known mod) when i found the looped FZ1 and decided to attempt to graft its parts onto my FJ.... no one had done the mod before so i knew i was venturing into unchartered territory..... some of the swapping required a bit more figuring than other parts but the end result was well worth the effort.



the principles of swingarm swapping are pretty universal ..... its usually much easier to do a swap if you have the complete rear end as it takes quite a bit of guesswork out of the equation.

break out the tape measure and get cracking!   what is the Busa swingarm pivot point width compared to the FJ 's   ?    Swingarm overall length  compared ?   will the shock mount up  ? ( IE not offset or offset)
shock linkage geometry? pivot bolt diameter? 

I'm sure we can help you thru it if you run into problems.... Be a pioneer!  :good2:

A mate of mine who is also a member of this Forum (Seanextra) out of Queensland Australia has just grafted a long Busa arm onto his Fj... Required merely the addition of shims at the swing arm pivot, no material removal required. For further info PM him and/or I'll mention it to him when I speak with him on the phone which will probably be within the next few days. See if perhaps we can hook you up with further info.

went to look at the busa swinger today, so when i get a chance i`ll break out the tape measure and hammer, and let everyone know what i can, i`ll pop photo`s on too, but as blunderbus is my everyday/only transport, it may be a few weeks yet  :wacko3:

What is the word on this? I am curious about that mod myself...and would much rather someone else be the guinea pig for it..lol  :dance2:

Looks Like Im the self appointed Guniea Pig !

Here is mine its a Series 1 Hyabusa Extended arm was super easy to swap just use the outer pivot shaft and your pivot bolt from your FJ swingarm it fits perfect in the busa bearings its just too simple! The Busa arm is narrower at the pivot ( I couldnt believe it) Just need to make some shims to keep the arm in the center as there is about 4mm or 5mm of gap either side of the arm but the pivot outer and bolt is FJ so they are spotty dog. the suspension linkages line up but you might need to hunt down some shims or turn up some for the dog bones where they attach to the busa arm.

Nothing to do with the arm thats all to do with what wheel you run im useing XJR output shaft and XJR rear wheel so they line up perfect, but if you run FJ output shaft and a busa rear wheel you would need to modify your sprocket cover and get a off set sprocket to suit which is not hard to do.

R1 Brakes front and rear !

These bearings are use on yzf750 and some Thunder ace swingarm  swaps. They are 4mm if you need 5mm order an extra set of races. From Yamaha $35.00 each.
